    Hello all,
I am currently in research mode for a possible move to Duma from Texas,Usa. I am hoping to get some help understanding just what kind of internet is available in Duma proper or surrounding cities...... if any is available.
Specifically What is the fastest speed available? Where? Who provides it? If you are unsure, you can search "speedtest" and a site will tell you what your upload and download speed is. It only takes a few seconds.
Any comments about reliability and consistency of internet service and electricity are also welcome. I hear brownouts happen "occasionally"? I currently have 15/7mbs.
I have a friend who just returned from a year in Dapolog. He says the inet service was fine and reliable except during brownouts. I am aware things are different city by city. Thank you in advance.

For residential the fastest I know is around 3mbps...However, Sky broadband available in downtown and residential areas is advertising up to 12 mbps! Check it here: SKYBROADBAND - A SKYCABLE Service

I just got a test and mine is:

    Last Result:
Download Speed: 1023 kbps (127.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 295 kbps (36.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
    Wed Sep 28 2011 10:06:46 GMT+0800 (Taipei Standard Time)

Quite contented with my Globe as of this time as I am getting free wifi router and could upload around 200 pictures in Facebook in an hour ...

Sky Broadband is advertising a very tempting offer (Life at 5 mbps) that I am tempted to transfer, and might do soon when I get my own router: Life At 5 Mbps - About My Life At 5 Mbps

    Hi,
We have PLDT and this is our daily, typical speed ever since we have been with them (just ran this test a few minutes ago): http://www.speedtest.net/result/1505615012.png We had no luck getting Globe at our house, even though neighbors have Globe, so not sure of their speeds, the Tattoo didn't work at our house, and we tried the Smart Bro wireless broadband, which worked but was so slow it was hardly worth the effort. We have been pleased with PLDT, although it is a huge downgrade from what we were used to in the states. Good Luck!!

    Blank....???

Strange, that link is supposed to show my speedtest results, anyway my download speed is 3.15 mbps and the upload a whopping 0.78 mbps. These are pretty much what we always have.

    Is PLDT available in Dumaguete?

I recently moved to candau-ay and the owner of the house said that globe dsl is available.
Well it is not. Now I am stuck on their crap wireless wimax internet.
The 1Mbps would even work fine. But after 25GB data transfer for the month, they call you a "bandwidth hog" and cap the connection to 0.3 Mbps. I learned yesterday that it is called "Fair Use Policy".
I can just recommend to stay away from globes wireles wimax plans. Their wired DSL is fine though.

Where is the PLDT office in the city?
Unforunately Sky Cable doesnt have any wires up here yet.
Do I have any other options beside smart bro up here?

    Regards,

    Daniel

Daniel, PLDT now has an office in Robinson's Mall, 2F, next to Smart. Did you try Sky Cable?
