    nothing to complain

Since a year I am connected with iQuest / now Guavatel - and that works well. They also changed the antenna within half an hour and the technician was very helpful when I had to install a wifi. Generally, am really satisfied and happy to have a quite fast and stable internet connection outside of dgte city proper. Am living at the edge of Valencia towards Sibulan. Also my neighbour is connected with that systems and says it works well.

At what point might new owners get a break? From my perspective, if I had come to this forum first, before I met them in person (was staying upstairs at Dumaguete springs, now there is a business that has issues) I might not have given Guavatel a chance.

It means I couldnt live where I live because I work online.

They have busted their tails giving me a 1.5mbps line that is stable, attempted 2mbs, couldnt get it reliably, were open and upfront the entire time, and said we can try again with some better equipment in a few months.

Like I said, I work online, I live online, and these guys make that happen. No idea what went down in the past (though I have heard some horrible stories and of course, having met Rhoody in person, know he doesnt bullshit) but having operated my own businesses the past 10 yrs I know enough to know that reputations can be made or broken online like this.

What would happen if there was no Guavatel? To those knocking this company, how would I and others get my internet? They go places others dont/wont/cannot. Dont knock if you dont have an alternative.

yup same situation here, neither my wife nor myself could do what we do without Guavatel. Like i said straight up honest people that try to offer a superior service and when they can't they even give you an appropriate refund for the sub standard or off line time.

After all the years of mostly nothing but bad reports of this entity, it is good to see that now there are numerous positive reports. Hopefully this will continue through the next three name changes!

Today they came up and moved me from wired to wireless and their workers were both knowledgeable and pleasant. Video chat on g-mail works like a charm. People should really stop connecting today's company with the old one. Different owners, different managers and a way different work ethic.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I have heard a lot of things both in and outside this forum. In summary, the feedback received about the level of service prior to the new ownership was overwhelmingly negative. However, I have heard several people praise Guavatel's service since the new ownership took over, and especially over the recent months. It appears that Fred has righted the ship.
I had a very pleasant experience with the owner and his staff.

Just an update. Yesterday we went wireless and today i was video skyping to Vancouver Canada as I walked throughout my yard. Just for information we use the 512 category and it works very well. i have no problem recommending GUAVATEL, INC. to anyone.

I too am using Guavatel, Inc. (the 1 megabit plan), and love it. Downtime is almost non-existent (like 99% uptime from what I have witnessed), the service is fast, with minimal slowdowns (mostly at night when everyone is on), the staff is very helpful, and overall Guavatel has delivered on everything they said they would. I have used them for a little over a year now.

I would not hesitate to recommend GuavaTel.

That is my experience in the present.

Now on to my experience in the past. My family and I lived in Dumaguete in 2006/2007, and purchased internet service from a different company, which I believed was named Quest Interact or maybe IT Outlook (hard to know, they had a habit of changing their name pretty regularly as people have pointed out). What I do know is that the "company" (and I'm being kind here), was run by a different set of people - which I believe was headed by the same Rolf many of you have mentioned.

That service was the worst I have ever seen- the service was always down, and even when it was up, the speed was horrible. Like someone else said earlier, it was IMPOSSIBLE to run a business using their internet service.

At one point, and I still cannot believe this actually happened myself, when I complained about internet being *OFF* for days at a time (I mean completely no connection), I was told (by Rolf) that they were doing "rolling blackouts", meaning each group of people would get a turn, and "my next turn was on Wednesday". It was Monday when I spoke to him about this. That floored me. "MY NEXT TURN"? Give me a break!

Needless to say, I am very happy that the people that run Guavatel are professional, give a d*mn, and are easy to work with, because I would NEVER want to go back through what happened in 2006/7.

And from what I see, this professional attitude has paid off- I seem to remember the number of customers for Quest was well under 100, and Guavatel's subscriber base is easily double that. They cant be doing that poorly if more people are using them I think?

Lastly, I think there is little meaning for people to talk about the horrid service that was "provided" by these shady companies from the past. It bears no resemblance to Guavatel, and I would encourage any CURRENT subscriber(as opposed to people rehashing stories about a different company from years gone by) that is unhappy with GuavaTel's service to post details. I feel confident that any current customer with issues would find that their management would "make it right".

This thread needs more facts and less conjecture in my opinion :-)

I've subscribed to Guavatel for about a year now. I started out with 512 Kbps ( I'm going to refrain from other tech speak as I am not that familiar), but was recommended 768. Was allowed to check it out first, and indeed 768 worked out very well for my needs. I use Internet for news, e mail, video chatting with family abroad and watching programs aired in the US via sling box. I have been able to do all, and picture quality for the video chat and streaming live or recorded programs pretty good. (the picture quality not as great at 512, but I was allowed to see for myself before upgrading). Now I can watch the baseball playoff games aired in the US, as well as football, WITH my family (on FaceTime). It's like we're all together.
I am probably the most remote of the users of Guavatel and am pleased that despite my location I have such technology at my fingertips. Another advantage is when one "backbone" is down, I can be switched to another. With Smart or Globe, if it's down, it's down until it is fixed..
As for service, I can't complain. The technicians are very easily accessible, they give you a good idea of when they're coming, and they're here pretty much in a timely manner (even if getting here is not that easy), stick with you until the problem is solved. I can't think of any service in the US that's as good. The staff at Guavatel know that we expect more, and they deliver.

    well Guys

not that I believe there are no changes with the new ownership. But it is obvious that it TOTALLY stinks.

4 people who did not give a damned about participating on DI in many years just sign up and praise a doubtful company like the lords second comming.

That stinks to heaven guys and seems the new practice of the company is no point better than the old and based on bola and fakes.

How much discount do you guys get to write that crap ?
