I agree, i am happy that Rhoody can hold my personnal contact details and blood type for reference, and i am more than willing to provide blood. If we all do this then, we will have blood we can call on at anytime, and i am sure there are plenty of matches here for all types.

My experience trying to donate blood

Last Saturday when I received a text informing me of Johns accident and that he urgently needed A negative blood, I rushed to the hospital to see if I could help. I didn't know my blood type but was immediately tested and within an hour found out that I was a match. I then proceeded to fill out the required paperwork and be interviewed. After the interview, they informed me that they couldn't even screen my blood because I told them I reacted to a hepatitis vaccine I received 25 years ago. I told them that I have had my blood screened many times since and there is no sign of hepatitis. They refused. It took nearly 2 hours to get a hold of the head of the laboratory to convince them to at least screen my blood so they could verify I was clean. John needed my blood now! Finally, 3 hours later, they had screened my blood, verified that I was OK and began to take my blood to give to John. Alas, after 3 hours, it was too late. A very frustrating process. Dejavu after reading Johns initial post. I don't know whether anything would have changed for him had he received my blood earlier, but it is heavy on my mind.
