    URGENT

The current weather has brought with it more than its share of tragedies locally. Right now there are 50 or so families whose homes have been washed away and what little they had before has now been reduced to nothing. They are currently sheltering in the school in Batinguel. Many have just what they stand in. I am therefore making emergency funds available from the Thursday Club pot to try and help these people. Rhoody/Rechel feel that for about 100 peso we can get a set of clothing for each child from Ukay2 and that is what we will do. Helping every needy family would be great but we know that is not possible. But out attitude is helping some is better than helping none.

There was no time to discuss this with all concerned because the urgent need is NOW, and hopefully the kids will have a replacement set of clothing tomorrow (Sunday). I appreciate all the generous donations that have been made to our Christmas Fund and the hospital gift bags are almost complete. Therefore I hope that no-one has any objections, and everyone approves, to us diverting some of the remaining funds to try and ease the pain being felt today by some destitute families.

    Thanks in advance.

    Roger

I realize it is a little late to help today, but the temporary Ukay2 next to Quezon park is much cheaper than the regular Ukay2 near provincial hosp. Tomorrow morning (Sunday) Rony and I will hit this Ukay2 and buy some bargains for distribution to the families at batinguel. Maybe see some of the rest of you there!

You do not even have to give money for clothes, you can donate some of your own that aren't used.

This storm (no, it was no Typhoon) was hitting us hard and the Original Post explained our plans.

Larry, we must have missed a few minutes, but your help and effort is just great.

So this morning at 8 am we went out to do some shopping. We were able to get about 75 complete bags with slippers, trousers, shirts or jackets. Additional some newborn/baby - stuff as well as 300 liter milk-powder, instant powder for 200 liter soup and noodles for the soup.

Broadside bought additional chocolate for the youngest and Cardjio chipped in a donation and helped with Wilma his wife and his daughter to get all organized. Thanks for your effort and time to help.

The focus of the Thursday Club is on the Kids and we decided to go to Batinguel where plenty of families are homeless and now stay at the emergency shelters at the Elementary School there and the Barangay Hall and Chapel.

Many of the people there have not much or nothing left. If you guys/girls have something left, you can be sure it goes to the right people. 1 kilo of chicken/beef soup is 250 peso and makes 50 liter, imported milk powder is less than 100 peso and feeds the youngest.

They really need all help they can get , from blanket to plastic chairs to cloth to food...

We can't bring their houses back, but looking into the big eyes of a poor, little child chewing some chocolate is definitely a better feeling than the buffet on a Christmas-party....

Thanks to all who helped, donated, not only for our cause here but in your places ... We all can make a small difference and there is still so much help needed !!!

Here some pictures where your help goes:

We had some food supplies delivered directly to the riverbank at Villa Fortunata, where much of the home-loss occured and some of the families are still there in tents & ruins, haven't moved to the school. THANKS to everyone who is helping out the refugees in whatever way they can...

Thanks, Rhoody, for all you are doing. One thing more: can you please give detailed information as to how money can be sent to your account or to an equally reliable person or institution. I have family and friends in the US who are anxious to contribute.

john, first thanks for your donation earlier today, also thanks to Robs where I got some donation on my paypal account. I will shoot you a mail in a minute. I have a paypal account in peso and dollar, so there is no loss in exchange rate. I don't withdraw it from there, but get the donations from my local bank accounts.

All your generosity is overwhelming and is a great help for many flood - victims.
