    Thanks!

Great. If someone could meet us at the ferry terminal, that would be great as I do not know the area at all. Please send me an email at my private address (mwindeler@hotmail.com) once you have a chance to work out the details with Rhoody. I should be able to confirm the ferry arrival time in a day or so.

Also, please advise the greatest needs. We were planning to just include spare clothing from our small kids and my wife and I. We could also include household/personal items or new underwear if they are in greater need. What do you recommend? Please keep in mind that we have a 20kg suitase we will use. Thanks.

    Kind regards,
    Michael

Michael, I will shoot you a mail later today, Thanks so much for your offer.

Tom, I saw some tiny raises with in a few items, but nothing which really jumped into my eye.

One more person I need to mention (and we simply messed up to get his number/name) is the trike driver below.

We got him yesterday morning at the market to deliver sacks of rice, bread and other stuff to Candau-Ay. He carried all sacks and rejected any payment, not for his work and not for gasoline, he simply helped with a big heart. I will find him the next days and have a drink with him or 2 when the situation gets better.

    We received more donations:

    Ken Oclassen $ 100
    Vicmico 100 Euro

The children are pure victims. But the adults? There was no element of surprise. PAGASA did its job, the radio stations did their job. You'd have to have been drunk all the time not to know the storm was coming. As the path of Sendong migrated southwards, for a few hours it was headed directly for Dumaguete. And there's no way any adult slept through the wind and rain. Even on the East Coast of the U.S., some people refuse to evacuate for fear of burglary and theft. Poor people have more to lose than the rich, as a percentage of net worth. They do not have bank accounts and other financial instruments.

This is not the first time the Banica River has overflowed, yet its banks are still densely populated. And there is ever more concreting upstream. Have you seen Tierra Alta? How long will it be before that project washes away?

jim787 you are simply wrong in many points, the evidence is on the other thread, where a di-member working for the local media did not know it a day or so before. I slept through it until 6 am ... sober...

...don't know where you get your wisdom from, but it sounds there is quite some influence by the morning-wisdom spread in a place with big yellow "M" on red background...
