    Mandarin In Al Fresco Robinsons

I love Mandarin, in the SM mall in Cebu i would go there for a snack attack or meal, alone or with friends, infact i was one of the regulars, i knew all the staff, fantastic place to go if ur in Cebu..Cheap too.....

When i transferred to Dumaguete I was ecstatic to find that Mandarin had opened in Al fresco while i had been away . . .

However, i find the staff lazy, and unapproachable, the place is dull and boring, there is just no atmosphere . . . . . . When ever i go in there the staff are all sitting round watching TV on mobiles doing nothing . . . . On my last visit, the final straw, the guy from the kitchen opened the door, took my order, cooked it, and then served it too me . . . . . i mean what the hells going on, there was like 12 staff sitting round doing nothing . . I think the ' Manager' gave me the check . . . I tipped the Kitchen guy heavily on the way out, as he opened the door for me . . .

I have started going back to Moon Cafe, mainly for the Nachos...Where i also hate the slow staff....and the poor service. . . . .

Come on Mandarin sort yourself out !!! I miss the Steam Seafood rolls.....

    Rant over Sorri !!

The best burger I had in Duma since 2,5 years living up here I had today at Roadhouse in Banilad on the south highway from Duma to Bacong. The burger whas furnished with all the ingredients it should have, like onionrings, pickles, etcetera.
They are really as they should be. I can recommend that place.

I have read ALL 27 pages because I am new to Dumaguete and wanted to find out the best places to eat.

Santa Monica Beach Resort was mentioned, but I never saw where it is located. Can someone please give me some easy directions?

    Thanks,

    Dan

Dan, I have been one of the ones promoting SM Beach Resort as much as anyone. So now the resort is up for sale and the inventory of seafood laying out on the ice to choose from is not as it used to be. We were disappointed the last time we went there so I have to take it off my A list. For seafood, I would recommend Lab-As. Tonight I had a nice breaded white local fish at Casablanca that was delicious; they have it on their nightly specialist list often.
If you do decide to try SMBR, it is a nice setting on the water, you travel about 3-4 kilometers on the south hiway from the mall, and you will see a crossing with a sign on the left, turn left one mile until you hit the water. Santa Monica Beach Resort. The main chef is there on Friday or Saturdays and it does make a difference if number one is on duty. Note: There are two restaurants, a local one in the front and the seafood one in the back past the pool area.
There are of course no Texas style steak houses but you can get a good steak here.
What food are you looking for and what is your budget and you will get lots of suggestions from the forum. Enjoy

Very nice steaks at Don Atilano (La Residencia Hotel) on the Boulevard -- decent prices, as well.

Still good old and reliable "Lab-as" is just right there on Piapi Beach. They're pioneers in the food-making industry---very delicious and food is always fresh and new.

I have to toss in my vote for Sta Monica Beach Resort having the best burger. Add in a great view, decent fries and onion rings and it is once again my favorite.

I've tried the other places reported to make great burgers, and they were just ho-hum.

Last trip tp the RoadHouse for lunch, there were obscenities being lobbed front to back and vv, AND some guy with a mohawk haircut wandering around with a broken zipper and nothing hiding his unit from public view..

    O-|
