It's a sad fact that Dumaguete was hit hard by Sendong.

How's the tourism now? Did it affect any rodes / boat travels?

I will be traveling to Dumaguete on 22nd of January. I'm also a photographer, I hope I could still take beautiful photos of Negros.

    Thank You

Around Dumaguete area the areas of beauty have changed somewhat, there are some pics here Travel Blog: Tropical Storm Sendong some before and afters as well and a current tourist attraction status. However there are still hundreds of places to visit of outstanding natural beauty here in Negros, Just hire a motorcycle fill it with gas and go explore, get off the highway and out into the mountains !!! Good Luck !!

Most of the mountain roads are now impassable, even by MC.

Most anywhere there was a bridge or spillway is washed out. Many places the rivers now are where the road used to be. For instance ALL bridges and spillways in Valencia were lost, so where ever there was a river or stream... The high roads along the peaks are ok with the exception of where they had to cross a river to get there, or landslides.

The roads north and south are ok, but I don't know about the road to Apo island, I think the bridge may be missing!

Sorry Larry but not ALL the slipways are washed away and certainly not ALL the bridges.
Agreed some temp solutions are in place, but on a motorcycle, you can get across almost everywhere you used to. I know as i've been out doing it everyday, since 17th Dec.
So far the only roads i found completely impassable by motorcycle are,

    1. The road to Red Rock water falls in Pulanbato you just have to get off and walk.
    2. The Palipinon road crossing at Palipinon, but you can go round the long way via Sibulan if you want to visit Pulanbato
    3. Twin lakes road which has suffered a msssive landslide approximately 4kms from the entrance, but is currently being repaired.

Twin lakes is the ONLY road that is completely, impassable, without a temp solution, or detour making the destination inaccessible.
Please note, I am name to geographical place challenged . .

Yes, if you're in your fancy car and dont like getting the tires dirty sure, best thing to do is stay at home, but on a motorcycle, theres almost no where u cant get across or get to, i know i've done it.

Name me ONE bridge or spillway in Valencia that was not destroyed? Yes, many are passable by MC, I too have been the rounds, but to the average tourist they are probably not going to get to most of these places on a rented wave 110 cc.

    Larry

p.s. I haven't been up to the shrine yet, have you? I heard there was quite a slide up there. The only bridge I can think of that isn't gone is the one at Red river.
