Hey, My husband-a Belgian and I - a Filipina are working on our plan to move to the Phils after living here in Belgium for 11 yrs. We have 2 grade schoolers. I'm from Cebu but crazy enough, my husband and I are eyeing Dumaguete as our soon-to-be home. I've read some threads about certain schools in Duma, some are positive, some are negative but they were all outdated - I mean, the threads still date back 2007. I am wondering if there have been any improvements in some private schools over there. Could some of you kindly tell me your 1st hand experiences about the private schools in Duma? Any recommendations?

I know some of you will tell me that the Phils. education sucks and that the Western ed'n is better. As a former student of both Phils and (a) Belgian schools/ education , I must say, my former Philippine schools handled a lot of things better and in a more organised and professional way especially in both highschool and college. I am also well aware that the kids in the Phils. have to work more and play less during school hours unlike the students here in Europe.I just need some ideas about the schools in Duma so I can compare it to the schools in Cebu. Thanks.

I can best recommend Silliman University, a standard school. It's also an international school. Silliman University makes Dumaguete City popular.

Think again because they are not outdated. Just how much resources do you think a place like Dumaguete has to spend on its schools?

    @ pretty_edem : Thanks for the recommendation.

@ Pedro : I get your point. It's a shame if the schools there aren't thriving to get better. Dumaguete City is developing fast after all, right? Thanks for your opinion.

Try Don Bosco or Citadinni, both are in the same campus, only separated by a fence. Both are Catholic schools therefore they have more lessons for the students on moral values and religion which I would say Silliman lacks.
