I'm planning on opening a paypal account to purchase online products from here and abroad. After reading their official site, it looks simple and straight forward. Is there anything I should be aware of? From experienced users. If all goes well, I will open a debit card account and only maintain the minimum balance and enough to cover any purchases. Ron
I use paypal (3 currencies US Peso Euro) since years in combination with a Unionbank account and it is always straight forward without any issues. However, I heard strange stories. But for those guys I know personally who had a bad experience, I believe it is rather the guy than PayPal, the bank or the seller.
I use a VISA debit card for an eon-account from Unionbank. 250 Peso (or so) yearly fee, no minimum balance required, paypal, online-control (would not call it banking in the Philippines, though) Withdrawing from other ATM Philippine-wide is I think 10 peso fee, also works abroad like a regular VISA card to pay in Hotels, etc.
Paypal Hey, Paypal is very easy to set up and well worth having if your an internet buyer. Simple to sign up, name, address and bank details. The only problem is finding people that will post to the Philippines.
i've been using paypal since day 2 and read about people having problems with paypal. i had a few problems til i learned how to do nonsense passwords in a document hidden in a usb flashdrive and copy/paste them into the password space, rather than type them in. my pp account draws on a bank account that is used for on-line purchases only. i feed the on-line purchase acct with a non-linked savings account and i keep a minimum amount in purchase acct just incase, ya know... make sure you don't blow your login info too many times or you might find your account locked and you hafta call in. pp's gonna sock ya with atm fees. if your citizen of da usa and maintain a usa billing address, you can open a capital one acct on-line. copied from http://tinyurl.com/76cfc7p $0 foreign currency exchange fees by Capital One Bank for purchases and withdrawals made overseas. i even opened a acct online, with a bank rep on the fone guiding me thru the procedure, with an expired us drivers license, they just needed the numbers to verify me. norm : ))~
I'm with Rhoody, Unionbank's EON account is fast, easy, and is the first time I have ever seen where you could open a bank account without money! Ties to PP in minutes. As he stated, no minimum balance, no monthly fees, just P350/year for the visa fee. Card works anywhere a visa does. Larry
