My buddy and I have planned a couples bike tour of Samar & Leyte in November of this year. We are inviting applications from interested parties who would like to join us & share the fun. The requirements for the trip are simple. Have a motorbike that you can bring on the tour & be available to travel from about November 18th for as long as it takes. We anticipate this trip will take about a week to complete, if it takes 8 or 9 days then sobeit.

The trip starts on November 18th, riding a planned course around Samar, visiting places of interest, staying at hotels & guest houses along the way, crossing the famous San Juanico Bridge & working our way around Leyte. We will ride in daylight hours only, for up to 5 hours per day, stopping frequently for photo opportunities & to enjoy the culture we encounter. At our option, we might decide to take a day off from riding to enjoy a beach & allow our saddle sores to heal....

We both are planning to take their partners along. It is not mandatory to have a big bike, nor to bring a partner, but no complaints will be entertained from single guys of being lonely at night & it not being a tour to find single girls.

If this interests anyone sufficiently to join, please pm me for a starting point, more detailed itinerary and be a part of what will surely be the best trip report ever posted in the history of Dumaguete Info! :-)

I was thinking of asking if anyone wanted to go on a Negros "green" tour, lots of backroads of Negros.

This tour in Samar and Leyte will be on paved roads as much as possible. Both my bike and my mates isn't equipped for off road riding.

    So,
How was the Leyte and Samar trip? How many riders? The timing was wrong for me, maybe next time?
How are your plans for trail riding in Negros? I love trail riding and would like to try it in Negros. I hope to visit in February, let me know any plans.
    Thanks.

    Touring

My gf and I love to ride, and we usually go riding most days, but would like to go with others.

We have heard nice things about Bacolod, and would like to visit there. We have heard that it is about a 5 hour ride; so, we are thinking about 1 day to ride there, 1 day to ride back, and 2 days in Bacolod.

If anyone is interested in joining us or has other destinations in mind or just wants to ride around locally, let us know.

    Thanks,

    Dan

Was a fantastic trip with 5 of us. Did the full circle of leyte and then Samar.

I don't have any plans of trail riding. I have a Yamaha Tmax which isn't built for trails.

Here's some photos from Samar and Leyte, hope you enjoy:

Great Philippine pictures Mark. I only saw the first batch as of yet, I'll see the rest later.
One thing I enjoyed seeing while I was there were the Churches...they seem to do that much right in the RP.
Ironically, I happen to be listening to the biography of Douglass MacArthur while I commute (great story in fact). I did not know there was a town or city called Gen MacArthur there but of course I am in no way surprised hahaha.
Mark I know you always get this question so sorry to ask it again. What is the safety situation in Samar and Leyte? Any significant issues on or off the bike?
Thanks for the post by the way.
    Jim
