There are only a handfull of Bull Mastiffs in the area, and most are interrelated/inbred. Be advised that if you are doing this with the intention of selling pups, pups are very difficult to sell here. As someone pointed out, there is "Butch"; http://www.dumagueteinfo.com/board/classifieds/shepard-bulldog-puppies-sale-6270.html American bulldog is the closest DNA relative of the old English Mastiff, not to be confused with the American Pitbull terrier; American Bulldog - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Larry
Hi Larry, Thanks for the info. I know what you mean about selling pups. That is not really my intentions. I am hoping to get a certain type/look with this cross breeding. I had a dog of similar breeding in the US about 10 years ago. He had all the look and personality of a Rott, but the size of a Bullmastiff. We shared a home for nearly 10 years and I could not have asked for a better friend. I have seen several Bullmastiffs advertised in Cebu. Since my time is running out for this heat cycle, I may just go there and see about buying an older pup and hope for the best. Again, Thanks for the info. Gary
I thought seriously about buying a male, but I decided against it. I'm not wanting to get into the kennel business. We already have 3 dogs but I want to get something unique and different. If I live long ewnough I would like to try perfecting a breed that possessed all the good qualities of both the Rottwieler and the Mastiff.
Just an update for those who might be interested. I found a very nice cross breed for my experiment. He is half Rottweiler and half Bullmastiff. They were bred 3 1/2 months ago. Dusty birthed 13 [puppies. 4 were still born and 2 were suffocated by their mom in the first 3 days. However, 7 have survived. I have some great puppies now and things look like I might just have exactly what I was looking for. I'll know more in a year when the 2 I'm keeping are grown some. In the meantime the rest are selling nicely. I will post an ad in the classified for anyone interested.
Yes, too late I was able to find the dog I was looking for almost in my own neighborhood. Thanks for the reply.
