    Hi John,

welcome on board. 2,7k should be perfectly fine and gives you the great option to have enough pocket money to explore some of the 7107 islands of this great archipelago. There are many here who need to exist for a third of your budget, but with your pension you will not have to look in your wallet if you can afford a bottle of good red wine or some imported goods.

That you are nervous ahead of a step like that is understandable and you certainly will face a lot of challenges you might have never thought they would even exist. As long you take it easy and relaxed and are open to country and lifestyle I am sure you will have a great time.

    cheers

    Rhoody

John, don't think too much, everything will be totally different anyway. As long you get your money transferred, you are fine and many times the exact opposite of what you have planned will happen. Life in the Philippines will approach you in very miraculous ways, which can not be foreseen in our wildest imaginations. That is one of the great things about living here

When you are here keep one golden rule in your mind and follow it:

    Ask only ONE why-question a day !

Welcome to the forum John and glad to have you moving to Dumaguete. Given you already bought a house, thus no rent and property taxes are low here, you will be, as Rhoody stated, very comfortable on your pension. Where are you from? We have many countries represented among the expat community here. Good luck with your move.

Welcome John to our forum; it'll be good to get to know you.
If the noise problems we've been discussing on another thread don't bug ya too much, you'll do fine...

Welcome aboard John! Moving from Lake Tahoe to Dauin is quite a climate change! Trading pine trees for palm trees? I am sure you will enjoy yourself here! If you have any questions, just ask away!

car or maybe a muilti cab?

welcome aboard or is it abroad...
a vehicle? most of the year, it's probably a bit warmer here than tahoe so you might appreciate air-con, it's also nice to be able to roll the windows up to minimize the road pollution and noise. depends where most of your driving is gonna be but a lot of the roads are rough and traffic in downtown duma can move at a snails pace.

i have a multicab (van) and if i could afford a different vehicle, i'd look for a small comfy riding automatic with air-con, power steering, power windows and auto door locks. a vehicle that could turn on a peso, i say turn on a peso cuz it's not uncommon to get parked in by motorcycles (if you can find parking : )

you'll find lotsa info on the DI forum if you search ''multicabs''
    norm : ))~
