Has anyone been to the "Mermaid Bar" in Cebu ? I haven't met a mermaid before and told my wife i'm going there to investigate. being a fisherman that I am it shouldn't be hard for me to find one , she told me just don't bring home my catch .

Just follow your nose, a place like that should smell strongly like fish.

I’m a bit of a fisherman too, but have never been fishing for mermaids, I take it the ones in Cebu have been raised in captivity? Or captured in their natural habit and bought ashore?
What would one use as bait? Do you need to use tracers or are they soft mouthed?
Is there a bag limit and minimum size?

I'm not sure about any of the above, but I suspect they still smell like 'fish' though.

A little bit tricky to find this one. Go over the NEW bridge to Mactan island (15 – 20 mins taxi ride from Mango during evening when less traffic). After you cross the water and the bridge turns 90’ to the left – you’ll see the blue and pink neon sign of “Mermaid” on your left (easy to miss though). Do a “U” turn opposite the Shell petrol station (100m after you come off the bridge), then drive back on yourself for about 100m, Mermaid is there on the right.Kinda expensive, but unlike some other bars, it’s worth it. Ladies drinks around 200 each I think and yours at about 70 or so. Barfine – take a deep breath, is a whopping 3500 pesos, 2x Mango Price!Really cool Filipina Manageress (pretty as well) – accommodating and welcomes you genuinely and enthusiastically. On my last visit, things were not looking good. A few words in the ear and a minute later, 3 magnificent specimens were ushered to our table – almost like magic! Bar seems to run a lot better when she’s about. Management seems to be thoughtful and fair towards the girls as well, something which some other bars do REALLY badly.there really are some pretty girls in here, some REALLY pretty ones! I always end up turning up late, so goodness knows what I would have seen if I arrived at a more suitable hour. Some of the best girls around – check it out yourself, don’t take my word for everything – come on man GET A GRIP OF YOURSELF!In the top 3 of Cebu’s bars – no question. Be nice to see the prices drop a little, but all in all – highly recommended.

Just clicked on the website link and it looks like a nice place, although most of the details were in what seemed to be Korean, or quite possible Japanese ( sorry I can't tell the difference ), which might explain the higher bar fine and the Clientele they cater too...cheers

Is there anything close to this kind of place around Negro's ? Or is Mc Donalds the main party spot of Dumaquete as wife has told me ?

    Club Mermaid Facebook Page

They actually have a decent Facebook page in English with lots of photos.

Since we are flying into Cebu for the first time in April I may have to check it out. Asawa will almost definitely accompany, but after 25 years of marriage she's cool as long as it's "look but don't touch"

I've often thought a well-stocked GRO bar close by as being somewhat like a having a pistol in your nightstand......

You hope you don't have to use it, but its good that it's there in case you need it someday.
