Hello, Just saw this forum and just had to sign up and meet some of you. I was born in Manila, grew up in Chicago, met my wife (from Dumaguete) in 2007, married in Dumaguete last year, and are now planning to move to Dumaguete within 5 years.
I have to admit that I was kinda reluctant when my then fiance wanted to get married in Dumaguete. She was willing to sacrifice our honeymoon money for her dream wedding in the church where she was baptized. Who am I to deny her dreams...Plus she's the boss...lol
Well anyway, I look forward to chatting all of you.

Welcome Newb, nice story. How did you like Dumaguete when you came here last year? If you are serious about moving here in 5 years, you could consider buying a property now, prices seem to be going up, like everything else.

Thanks guys...Yes we are actually going there in from 5/24-6/18 going to look at land and partaking in the Sibulan fiesta 6/13. Being from big cities all my life, I had culture shock when I arrived in Dumaguete...I get claustrophobic just passing through small towns when we go on long drives, but I gotta tell you, its the simplicity of life that I fell in love with.
My wife tells me that its not like it was 8-10 years ago, its a lot more busy now . My friends all laugh at me and tell me I will not last, but even though my wife's family has a fully functional shower in their house, I preferred to bathe with a tabo and balde (bucket). It was more refreshing..
