Motorcycles made in China - any good ?

Thanks KdF i was hoping to hear someones first hand knowledge of the bike i have only seen one at a dealer .

At half the price of the xr200 makes me want one

That's just Honda and Kawasaki doing some outsourcing. The engineering and quality control are still Japanese

 

Yes, correct Cutie Ladybug, many Corporations, not only Motorcycles, both Japanese and USA etc, are doing the same thing to lower their costs, and increase their profits, because of the cheap labour costs in India and China.

I am more concerned with the Motorcycles actually manufactured in China by the Chinese. And now, more recently, I have heard more positive comments than negative which is good.

Also most of the service call centres, are now either in India or Philippines, for major corporations, for the same reasons.

 

That was a MAJOR factor in my friend buying one.

 

Take it from someone who lives in China

"Made in China" means

"it's junk"

 

Generally I might agree with that statement. But I have a Rusi 150 and it's been trouble free. Never let me down. It potters around town comfortably and gets me over the mountain effortlessly. Takes the roughest back roads in its stride and can strap a big load on to it. Twin springs at the rear and you can remove one set or not, according to your needs. No labour charge on servicing, just pay for any parts. Maybe I just got lucky and got the good one that slipped through the net.

 

Maybe the junk is kept here and the good stuff exported. No, that can't be right - Walmart is proof of that.

 

About 90% of the time, I would agree with that, but I also know of products that are engineered in the U.S., and made to U.S. spec, that are of (amazingly!) good quality!

 

I have decided to buy a Kawasaki Rouser 135, thanks guys.
