Is there anywhere in the Phills where I can purchase a propane operated refridgerator? Propane refridgerators are very effeciant and last forever because of no moving parts.

It does not make since whey this technology is not available in Phills. With all the electric outages it is the best way to go.

    caution:
i've read some discussions on using propane refers and they require regular maintenance (cleaning filters and some other stuff i don't remember) or you'll be singing the blues. nothing a person with time on their hands can't handle...

    norm : ))~

next to the way higher cost of a propane and higher maintenance, the prices for propane is going up much faster than the electric power cost. A half way proper electric ref keeps the temperature for the few hours without any issue.

BTW, there are way less brownouts now than 4 years ago

We had a propane refer in the military, U. S.C.G. (1963-1966 4 years). I was station engineer and never did any maintenance on it.

You might be better off to just buy a back-up generator if you are only concerned about "brown-outs".

good to hear. seems the Army had better material than the German 'normal' person.
I never had one by myself, but in the 70th early 80th, my dad had only problems with his propane ref in our garden house, I recall he replaced it at least twice in 10 years

Had propane fridge when i 1st moved to hawaii about 12 years ago to a house in rural beach front with no electricity installed and not enough solar panels to power more than light bulbs and TV/Radio...never had any problems with it for the one year i was around the fridge which was already an old and very very used fridge...we ran one propane tank for the stove and the fridge for 2 kids 2 adults with low income and we never had problems affording keeping up with the propane we used....Only efficient gas sipping expensive generator generators will power a fridge without using uneconomical cost...Its true that electric fridge will hold for hours in brown out even when i lived in rural negros where brown out almost daily and often was all day, still, i never lost any goodies in the fridge....

Matiao,Dumaguete, used to sell them years ago.. Problem is,too expensive to import (from U.S.) Servel (Electrolux)is one of the biggest, oldest ( since 1927)and best brands. Not much goes wrong with them (lo mantainence),they last forever, use very little gas and get very f'in cold !! You can find some in RV supplies usually a 3 way (12 v. dc,gas,110v a/c)
It is unfortunate that these could not be re-introduced to the Philippines for a reasonable price... Miguel
