It is quite simple. Nature is making sure, that by having many offsprings at least one of them can carry on with the gen pool. Being poor means not having a high survival chance, being rich means the offspring can survive easily and not more carrier of the gens are being needed. In the other hand, children are for the poor the old age pension.

Here in Switzerland around the turn of the century (1900) the average children in a family was very high. Not seldom a dozen or more. It was a time when Switzerland was a poor agricultural country. As soon as wealth was generated after WWII, and the social security was 1948 implemented, the birthrate dropped dramatically. The parents didn't need children anymore to take care of their old age 'cause there was new a pension in place.

Overhere, there is only a surge of births 9 month after a brown out, especially when around this time major soccer league games are being scheduled on TV. :-))

 

The poor in this country keep having children because :

1. They probably can't afford any form of birth control or contraception.

2. Even if they could, the catholic church scares the crap out of them by threatening them with eternal damnation if they did use anything.

 

Both are correct, avoid eternal damnation and hopefully 1 or 2 of the children will take on the responsibility to support the old age parents that can't work any more.

A number of years ago My wife went up to the Valencia clinic to inquire about birth control. She was told that any form of birth control (IUD, condom, pills) would render her immediately and permanently sterile.

I guess its the environment and being surrounded with lots of nonsense television program which makes the people stupid in the end especially this drama thing which people don't realized it does nothing in their life to enhance their knowledge..
Watching things you can learn is a lot different. In this third world country if only people would learn to think before they make children, it would make a lot of difference in their life..not only to them but for everyone.. Less people, less population, less pollution, less problems and and and..
Hope one day they would realize having lots of childrent its not an answer in poverty..:-(

 

I agree on the television part, I won't let my young kids watch the Tagalog soap opera crying, rape, child abuse, who cheated on who, laughing and praising all the gay's and more and more crying.

But China tried the one child law and look at their population. Education is the long term solution but that won't happen until the church is educated first and there is more opportunity for a decent job.

Thats true. This television affect so much in the lifestyle of many people. I dont know if its only here or is also can happen in western country..
