My friend the manager at Shakeys told me their leased building was sold out from under them because Lhuillier bought it, and Annabelle Jeans, AND wants also wants to buy Bethel to put up high rise condos!

In Manila and Cebu etc, you already have a working local population to occupy high rise condos. I don't see
that kind of in place population here to fill in the spaces.

Anyway, that is the latest 'condos on the blvd' rumor.

This is interesting. I would think their expected customer base might be foreigners or OFW's. All this week, CNN will feature "Eye on the Philippines" on their daily World Report segment. It is repeated during the day, next one at 1pm today. Some of the areas they cover are Call centers and OFW's and the impact on the local economy.

I think condo units are the only properties allowed to be owned by foreigners here.

So, let's ruin another view and possible property for many to get the use of with ugly view blocking highrise that only accomodate a few.
Looke like some people would still sell their grandmother if they could make a peso or two.

The boulevard is nice to walk but to think of as everyday scenery to have outside your window... I mean the locals pissing and s%$ting everywhere, the trash, the beach you wouldn't dare swim in, and the annoying parades / traffic and so forth. Maybe a little common sense into location wouldn't hurt. Only way I'd be interested in a Condo is if it had a nice sized private pool or on a nice private beach and it better come with all the fixings one expects from a condo.

Pointers on selling your mother- in- law.

First you need to get a license issued from the Barangay which needs to be notarized. The cost is 200p unless you are a foreigner which means you will get a quicker response if you pay 600p. They will explain that there is a backlog and to inquire in a month for the authorization.
You take the license to the municipality paying 800p for the certification but more if your mother-in-law has a reputation for being obnoxious.
The biggest expense comes at the provincial level where the governor will need to stamp his/her approval but by then your license is out of date and has to be reissued by the Barangay for another 600p. The governor will require an interview between his staff attorney and your obnoxious mother-in-law who will insult the staff attorney and require an additional payment of 5000p but eventually deny your application. You can appeal before a full board of staff attorneys for another 10,000p but a clerk advises you to bring in someone other than the real mother-in-law and throw in a basket of papayas with envelopes of pesos addressed to each board member. It only takes around 3 years to complete the process but unfortunately by then there is a new governor and your license has expired so you will need to reapply.
