Seems like I remember seeing some business with a sign out front offering custom hydraulic lines..maybe out near the North city limits? If I can't buy a rear rubber or stainless wrapped brake line close enough to the length I need tomorrow, I could always give them a try and see if they do motorcycle type brake lines. Approx 16 inches including the metal ends on it would do.
Just before the turning next to Kia motors on left,all sort of hydraulic lines offered but not sure if the do bike stuff!
DAPCI near the Ceres terminal, and Earthworks near the south end of Perdices both do custom hydraulic lines. Not sure about motorcycle lines... Larry
Okay, a few spots to try out then. I'll start out by Kia if Raddi and the F&FOs heading north don't have a line shorter The big question will be whether they do the smaller motorcycle sized brake lines?
Else you can make a trip to Bayawan and visit the Mechanic I mentioned, he does make them for Bikes...
I found selection of stainless and rubber brake lines really cheap at Rusi. I think I met your Bayawan guy at Brian's motorcycle tour thing at the airport yesterday. I'd seen a rear disc-braked XR parked out front and I asked who owned it. One of the three guys at the table said he'd cut to length and clamped the ends on his own stainless brake line for the back of that XR. I forget his name-I do remember he seemed to have some sort of German "uber-alles" attitude about doing it himself. (I'm half German btw) He was ok though.. just a little stiff. Maybe it was the heat and the beer? I met another European at YNot a few weeks back with a well used XR200. He told me he was running no air filter at all in his XR... Instead he was just "changing the oil every 1000km" Not a good idea..
Whoever he was, he didn't offer to custom make mine. If he was indeed the guy from Bayawan I could have given him the length and payment right there, and he could have sent it up on the bus. No matter, I kind of prefer the rubber brake line for the back even if the stainless wrapped gives better pedal feel and braking action. The Rusi hoses were still a little long, but they took them back and gave me a refund. Great people working there I should add. I did find an optimum length hose on the only bike Yamaha sells with a rear disc brake. A little higher at p420, but at least I got the length I needed. It pays to keep looking sometimes.
