According to Islands magazine July/August 2012 article "Top 5 islands to retire early" Siargao, PI ranks number 1, then Roatan, Anguilla, Vanuatu and Bocas del Toro. So it all depends on your source.

I like the list, I think i'll try a year travel to several of the Central American countries on the list and enjoy the adventure. Regardless it will give me more insight to what else the world has to offer and a better plan on where my roots will grow from my final resting place hopefully not too soon . I would rate the PI at least in the top 20.

    Retire in Mexico????????

There have been approx 50,000 murders in Mexico in the last 5 years. They don't have an accurate count because they keep finding mass graves with victims. Most of the conflicts are close to the border with the US but there are problems in the whole country.

They talk of the Phils as being dangerous but never mention Mexico and their current problems. Many of these drug cartel wars are spilling over into the US border states resulting in murders of US citizens.

I know the media has pretty much ignored the drug wars and I wonder why?

Yah a bunch of grand standing politicians are taking the focus off of the real problem in the streets. Mexico is a perfect example of just because it is cheap it may not be a good idea to go there.

I wonder if that donkey had a passport. Might have been the same one that used to perform in Tangiers :p

That one in Tangiers was actually a U.S. marine stationed there, nicknamed 'donkey'
