For anyone other than me that uses Rovira road to exit Dumaguete at night, last night there was a checkpoint set up near Allie May. Sailed right through it, as usual, but it was there stopping those silly enough to stop for them. Larry
did they actually control ? I pass there quite some times, and see them regularly. usually there are a few sitting in the "Police Booth" or in front, some other guys on bikes dropping by for a chat and sharing a Red Horse. I never thought they actually control there, so I never stopped, even one was standing at the street in a uniform. But for me it looked more like a get together
Yeah, we always see them in and around the hut too. However that was not the case this time. They had a normal checkpoint about 30 meters up from the intersection (going toward Valencia). They had 8-10 motorcycles stopped there, and were at least the same number of officers. I didn't see them until we came around the corner, and just slowly accelerated through them. Rony smiled and blinded them for a moment. As we were passing the last of them, a tall one stepped out and waved, naturally I waved back and continued to accelerate. As we got a few hundred meters up the road a headlight appeared from behind. I went around the corner and stopped on the sideroad for a pee. They went on by, I guess they didn't have to pee. Afterwards we went on our merry way to Valencia, and they were coming back, two of them on an XR200, going very slow and shining their flashlights in all the bushes and driveways, I guess they might have been looking for aliens. We have been "barely getting away with it" for a number of years now, and gone through at least 20 checkpoints in a similar manner. A year or two ago there was a directive by the LTO chief to the effect they are not allowed to physically stop you and are not allowed to give chase. I'm not sure how this may or may not apply to PNP, but they don't usually bother much either. Larry
