Twin Lakes are they worth going to?

Thinking of packing a picnic for twin lakes. Understand from previous reading that it's an uncomfortable or risky ride by motorcycle.

 

I have been to Twin Lakes twice on a motorcycle, and yes, it is a VERY rough road. In some parts, my fiancee got off and walked a little.

Once you get there, locals are charged P10 and foriengers P100 entrance. You walk down the hill to the "lakes", but you can only see one (1) lake. We were told that the other lake was on the other side of the moutain. Silly me, I thought twin lakes would be side by side and see them together.

In our opinion, it is NOT worth the trip.

If someone wonders why 2 trips, the second time we showed some newcomers where it was.

 

Sure the ride is a little rough but not impassable its better in most places than the road to Casaroro falls. I not been there since Sendong as the road was taken by a landslide in three places. However before Sendong, with some 'adventure' you could walk the the other lake, even though the people there told us there was no path any more. . . its an adventure, and for 100php whilst its expensive, its not a bad day out, rent a boat and explore a little while ur there, spend some money and live a little !!! . . The Cafe/Resturant is nice place to take a 3in1 Coffee, or u can stop at the 'Way over priced' resturant half way up or down depending . . .

 

Worth going? depends on a number of things..

If you've got nothing better to do on a given day, it's an okay day trip, but don't expect much from it alone necessarily.

If you have your own transportation then its an inexpensive time killer. If you're hiring a van etc, then you may feel the money wasn't well spent.

We went maybe 5 yrs ago on a rented scooter. The trip was more fun than actually being there. I don't recall the road to get there being a problem, seems like it was all paved.

 

Have never been there, it's on the to do list. But there's a VLOG (video log) "Film Life in the Philippines" created by a young American film student in Cebu that has a little segment on Twin Lakes. thanks for the link. I did some further research and found that the road to the Lakes is very rough and hard on the back riding those motorcycles. Also they are charging 300 a head roundtrip for the 40 min or so ride. Another 100 to admit if you're foreigner and another 100 to rent cottage for daytime use, plus additional fees for anything else you want. Sounds like it has turned into a tourist trap destination, not my cup of tea.

 

I suppose you do refer to the Azalea restaurant. Well, I have to admit prices are a fraction higher than usually elsewhere, but taken into consideration the location, the ambiance and the superb view, imho: not overpriced. Once in a while I only go there to have a drink, enjoy the view, temperature always nice and then back to sea level.

I have mixed feeling about whether it is worth or not to visit Twin Lakes., I think it depends on whether you just stand at the boat dock and look at the lake or experience some of the adventures it offered. I was not stimulated to experience the adventures but I would give it another try...

The road it rough, but it is very scenic and it does not have to be a road race to get there. Slower speeds makes the ride more bearable. It is interesting to see the mountain villages along the way.

There is an amazing Restaurant with an very exciting modern architecture on the way. I think it is Azalea. You can drive right by it very easily. It is over priced at about 800 P for a many course lunch for two, but you will most likely be the only one in the whole restaurant (you only life once, and if you are with that special lady it is worth a visit if only for a soda or beer) . Although it is over priced when you figure they keep it staffed including cloth napkin type environment and almost no on there to bother you it is worth the privacy of the location for me. The views are magnificent, and if you have desire to see a modern architectural wonder in the hills then this is the place. I think it may be affiliated with KEI Restaurant, and the food is of comparable quality. I have driven the road just to go to the Restaurant. It is one of the unique ones in the Dumaguete area.

 

When we went last year I/we considered it a waste of time and money.
