and to think this whole time I was worried about the air quality here. I drive motorbike for 20 mins, Dauin to Robinsons and when I get off I use a white towel to wipe front of my shins and my face and it's black with diesel soot.....

Maybe I need to find some berries to balance it out.

What about the local breakfast of champions, pan de sal and hot chocolate or bico??

Did not know that, thanks for the heads up. I cannot eat at most restaurants here. Not only is the food laced with salt and sugar, but the chances of food poisoning or hepatitis are greater.

ever read the ingredients of "ham" or "fiesta ham" here??

Rice, corn, sugar, cereal, up to 20% saltwater, etc. Sometime, just for kicks, try READING the ingredients in local foods here....

Well, if you really want to live a healthy lifestyle, breathe fresh air and still be in the Philippines then i suggest you live in Baguio City. There are strawberries and blueberries available, vegetables are fresh you can even go to a garden and pick your own. Lots of produce there so its less expensive. If you are worried about bread laced with sugar and salt then its much better if you make your own so you can watch the ingredients. BTW, Baguio is much colder than Valencia so bring a snuggling companion and enjoy hard boiled or fondled eggs in the morning for calories so you wont get too cold

    Explains my weight gain.

Thanks, you have just explained why I keep gaining weight here in the Philippines. I do not drink much or smoke at all so the calories must be coming from the woman. Do you know how much of a calories count can come from a plain woman? Does that calorie count include any seasons, perfumes, lotions, or condiments? Can that calorie count be reduced by any vigorous interactive activites? I would like to reduce my weight gain.

After reading this post on healthy eating I decided to check out a few of the products we regularly buy there,i was shocked to see how many products have MSG in them! All knor products have MSG, I know here you cannot always avoid them all but think better to avoid the ones you do know about.i remember a few months back the wife bought a small packet of pure MSG, it never made it into the food as was launched over the fence.

Also nearly every bag of snacks like potato, corn cheese chips to name a few, including any quick noodle made here is laced with MSG

Yes you are right, you can actually taste the MSG in those chips. My father loves putting MSG in everything and im sorry to say i took up that habit since i am the one cooking for my family now. It was only last week that i stopped putting MSG and part of it was because my fiancee warned me about using it. I hope we flush out all the toxins, i read MSG is really bad :(

    Very good suggestion...

Very good idea, I will start looking. Yes, I have to teach my friend how to make bread, but first I have to learn how myself, I am thinking. Only problem with Baguio is that it is not very transportation friendly to Manila and if there still is a commuter plane running between MNL and Baguio, it is a pretty hazardous approach, even military and presidential copters and planes have crashed there.

Blueberries have a very high antioxidant level and have been studied in numerous medical research as having anti cancer properties. Strawberries do, but less so. Strawberries are lower in sugar content than blueberries. I am hoping I will find a regular supplier of Tambis which I THINK comes close to berries and has vit. C (I have to research this for certainty). Been getting them from our neighbor lately who has a Tamis tree.

Also check your meat tenderizer and any fry batter for MSG. Another place it's used is to poison dogs with no antidote.
