    I don't feel I loose. I'm happy with what I'm doing here. Where I lost was when I was married for 6 years to a filipina.....and I lost quite a bit in the divorce. The no marriage policy is not just in this country but anywhere in the world. Marriage is simply a piece of paper for me and means exactly jack sheet to me. I'd rather pay the higher tax rate than get married again.

    As far as local friends, I don't feel need them. The ones I have met can't carry an intelligent conversation, want to use me for money, are easily offended, incapableof giving or taking jokes and I don't own a business here where connections would be beneficial. I pay my rent and my bar tab, I see no benefit to associating with local men. I don't bother anyone and no one bothers me. I've been in Duma for 1 1/2 years and 4 years in Olongapo prior to that. Minus the xwife, i have a pretty stress free life.

    This story, and many more, have been around for quite a while. Here is another one that thought he could live a high life here;

    You be the Judge

    Between Broadside and myself, we have come to the aid of a local foreigner who has a deportation hearing in MNL at BOI this week!

    Alfred is going to attend the hearing with him, stating the attorney there is known to be corrupt!

    Just in time

    Many expats here have a great life with their Philippine spouse and family...your comment is insulting but I understand your views are seen through the bottom of a beer bottle.

    Many expats have been scammed by Philippines spouses as well. If you think it doesn't happen you must be looking through the bottom of a beer bottle as well. Internet cafes around the country are teaming with opportunistic women looking for someone to send them a bit of money. I'd say that many of those happily married expats here have went through their share of these opportunistic women before finding a good one.

    And yes, this can happen in a western country but, in my experience, it happens at a much lower rate in our home countries.
