you mean that tourism boss who can never tell any schedule of event, no matter if in the City or Negros Oriental, even the event is only 2 weeks ahead ? .... better believe the bamboo telegraph then... sorry to sound negative, but we run after both frequently to get half way correct information and get basically the same info you got ... something which is plain wrong... definition plain wrong: Wrong to the point where it is not even funny or interesting, simply unbelievably wrong. ... having said this, maybe there was a third group... still better to have a false alarm than lost mountaineers
Just found out it was, another group of climbers who were poorly equipped for the climb and conditions up there on talinis.
whoever you are, next time be responsible enough and not post impartial or unverified facts to any thread, shout outs, share information to the general public or netizens which could create panic to parties involve and most specially accuse a group of such incident. you've just tried to tarnish an organizations name, and worst spread rumors which could create panic, stress to the participant's love ones. DON'T POST just for the sake to be the first to create a topic on a thread! BE SENSITIVE ENOUGH!
Whoever you are, and nobody seems to know as you didnt have the manners or courtesy to make an introduction, I suggest you read through the thread again without making a gut bustin' knee-jerk reaction. I can't see that anyone has tried to tarnish a reputation, or cause panic, unlike the "tsunami" rumour that spread though the bamboo telegraph and had the local population fighting with each other to get up the hill towards Valencia. The original poster, with good intentions, posted what he had heard from another source. You might be better informed, and better placed to make a judgement, if you understood that many members of this forum are amongst the first to act and help when a disaster strikes. If it had turned out that there actually were people lost on the mountain, then some members on here with the necessary skills and facilities would have joined the search for them. Just like a bomb threat or a fire call, it's better to react and find it's a false alarm than not bother and find it was for real.
Therein lies a lot of truth. I used to be a member of a search and rescue group in the mountains of Wyoming (think rugged, frozen, and snow) and sometimes a delay of an hour in dispatching meant the difference between life and death. There were numerous times we were already half way up the mountain when it was learned the persons supposedly in trouble were already home drinking hot toddys. Nobody ever complained about the false alarms, the few lives we saved on the real emergencies made it all worth while. Quick response saves lives. Larry
Well, if this was a false report as claimed by some on this thread, nobody told the Valencia Mayor! " Signages and landmarks for directions will be strategically installed along the mountain trail of the Cuernos de Negros in Valencia, Negros Oriental, to guide amateur mountain climbers. Valencia Mayor Ricky Gonzalez said he is concerned over incidents involving mountain climbers who were trapped in the forests because of poor directions. The mayor said he believes that signages and landmarks can greatly help amateur mountain climbers. Last month, two groups of amateur mountain climbers were trapped in the middle of the forests because of bad weather. He said that all the signages will be posted without the use of concrete nails, only with natural materials. The local government of Valencia was criticized by some groups of environmental advocate for using concrete nails in attaching signages to the trees. Gonzalez said Cuernos de Negros is a popular destination for mountain climbing enthusiasts. They also monitor foreign mountain climbers who try to use the mountain trail of Valencia. Gonzalez and Dauin Mayor Neil Credo have agreed not to allow any group to climb the Cuernos de Negros without permission from their offices and that all mountain climbing activities should be properly recorded for monitoring and security purposes. Gonzalez said they will come up with briefing and orientation materials for all groups planning to do the mountain climb.*MA " Valencia Mayor Ricky Gonzalez said he is concerned over incidents involving mountain climbers who were trapped in the forests because of poor directions. wouldn't be the first time that there is no information exchange between people. or that a Pinoy would admit that he might be wrong or talked bull.... didn't we just have that strange guy guiding us in Bais, who lied straight into our face, even he knew 110% who we are and that we know who he is ? Sorry I highly disrespect people without balls... so nothing unusual that one continues with his/her story totally ignoring facts, even we do have in the LOST case a member on DI who was there and evidently NOT lost.
