I don't think such inconsiderate & selfish mentality are limited to the Philippines. General populations in most third world countries behaves similarily at various levels. You'll find the same inconsiderate obnoxiousness (minus the outdoor kareoke) in China where I'm currenlty living in.

    But hey.......

It's gotta be more fun in the Philippines, right? :D

I remember i was in Hayahay with my FI a year ago, there was a group of Japanese men who were sitting at the back and playing a game. They were so loud and act as if they own the place. It ruined our night. There was a FIlipina woman with her foreign husband questioning the bills that they signed at coco grove. Shouting at the receptionist not caring if they hurt her feelings. There was this foreign man who keeps talking to my FI about the corals we saw during the glass bottom boat trip, i then added a few thoughts to the conversation. He looked at me weirdly, i am sure that look said 'you can talk!'. He then ignored what i said and talked some more to my FI. It hurts my feelings. Sometimes, foreign men thinks filipinas have no brains.
I agree with Atlargex, inconsiderate & selfish mentality are not limited to the Philippines only. Other countries have that mentality also but they get away with it because they are not a third world country so people automatically thinks they are more educated and makes them have more manners. If they show some rude manners, other people just shrug and say 'maybe they had a bad day' but if it was a filipino showing some rude manners....well you know what i mean, i dont have to say more. Just my opinion, its all good. No haters please

Filipinos from other cities in PI comment on how bad the driving is here.

Fil Ams returning from years of managed and polite traffic abroad are known to hate driving here.

You can't fix it by pretending it isn't true

    And..

Bad habits learned before you are old enough to drive will get you or some innocent person killed once you do start driving.

    Dated August 2012

Supt. Crisaleo Tolentino, chief of police of Dumaguete City, is urging the public to file complaints against police personnel for lapses in their duties, especially in checkpoints.

Tolentino was reacting to reports that policemen chased motorists who evaded checkpoints, and pointed their guns at the drivers.

A recent incident involved a male teenager who turned around and drove off after seeing the checkpoint at a Dumaguete boundary. He admitted he was driving without a license, and claimed that the two policemen, who caught up with him on a motorcycle, cocked their guns while scolding him for fleeing.

The teenager was reportedly traumatized by the incident but neither he nor his family filed a complaint although there were witnesses who can identify the policemen.

Tolentino said cops assigned to the City Quick Response Team usually chase drivers who evade checkpoints. The act of fleeing can be interpreted as being guilty of an offense, whether related to traffic or to other crimes like illegal drugs and gambling, he added.

He said CQRT personnel are trained to carry their weapons, usually long firearms at “low ready” by the backrider, while the driver may have a side short arm.

Low ready means the firearm, usually an M-16 armalite rifle, has been cocked and pointed halfway up, but not directly, at a person, Tolentino said. This is to ensure that policemen will not be at the disadvantage when responding to a call out, or during checkpoints, he added.

He said checkpoints are not set up only for traffic violators but also to curb criminal elements so there is need to deploy personnel on motorcycles.*JFP

I'll mention I just love it when there is a nice sidewalk to walk on which isn't very common... and then you have some car, truck, or whatever parked up on it so the only way you can get by is walking in the middle of the street.

And another favorite right by Silliman where people stop to wait or park on the left and right side on an already narrow road leaving barely room for 1 car to get inbetween on what should be an easy 2 lane road.... ohh except that narrow gap that would fit 1 car no one can get through because that's that spot every trike wants to use to pick up or drop off.... those trikes love double parking even when 10 feet ahead is a huge open gap on the side...

I keep saying one day I'll lose it and get a motorcycle like from Delta Force (Chuck Norris movie) with rocket launchers, machine guns, the works... I'd ride around town "ticketing" all the bad drivers I don't like!
