Well, it's good to know that neither Forex or LBC are on this list. The only problem is what used to take 30-40 days for a Balikbayan box to arrive to dumaguete from california now takes more than 60 days..Case in point, the box I sent thru Forex on the 16th of August finally made it to Bacolod on the 9th of October and is still waiting to be loaded onto a truck to make it's final voyage down to Duma. I have one other Forex box I sent a week after this one, but it's still being held in the wherehouse in Cainta, Manila......cheers

    Never lost a box.

I used Victory Cargo, working out of Anaheim California, sending about 35 boxes a year ago and never lost a box, or anything out of a box. I would put inventories list inside the each box. They would ship a container once a week, usually on Tuesday. It would take about 45 days to get to Dumaguete, delivered to the door. They had pick up spots around Orange County, but seem to get boxes from other locations through out the western states also. I always delievered my boxes to their site in Anaheim. I seem to remember that it was about $40 +/- to ship a box, and they sold you the box most of the time. I sent boxes over a period of time, and they would hold them in Manila if I had not arrived in Dumaguete yet for me. I would then tell them when I wanted them to deliver.

I do know that at the end of my shipping period, the US had given the Philippines some sophisticated equipment to X-ray containers, and containers could be held up because of that. It sort of depended on who you knew as to how fast your container got through. If one of my containers got double inspected they would let me know of the delay.

Pretty nice guys. PM is you want prices and more information.

$40? How long ago was that? The reason I ask is that I am from Orange County. My sister lives there too and has some stuff I need to ship, .......eventually.

you can call an get current prices

That was about a year ago. It was in the high $30s for Manila and then into the $40 for Cebu and Dumaguete if I remember right. You can have your sister call them at 1-877-458-8842. They had drop off points around Orange County or you could drop off boxes in north Anaheim off the 5/91 freeway area. I believe they will also pick up at your house if you want, but may charge for it. I believe you may have to buy the shipping boxes from them so they are the right size of the container. They are very good boxes, selling for I think $5. There are two sizes and I usually used the smaller one because they were cheaper to ship, and you could not get much more into the bigger boxes. It is important to know what day they ship their container each week as it will save you a week if you miss the departure day. It is good to get your box there a couple of days early. I usually figured on 6 weeks shipping time, but I started shipping months before I came, and they held the boxes in Manila at no charge for me.

I started off using lots of tape, including duct tape. They told me duct tape does not work, and they put plastic bands around each box anyway, so they are secure from all but customs. They are very friendly about giving you hints, customs issues etc. Two brother run it, one in Anaheim and the other in Manila. Of course they are Chinese. I believe Eric is one of the brothers names, but do not remember which one. Good luck, Christmas shipping may take longer.

The good news is, my friends BB box just arrived in good condition today. I don't know how long it took, but it left Las Vegas.
