BPI has been heavily promoting it's online banking. Are there any members here that can share their experiences with it?
I have online banking on a U.S. bank account but I only got it after a long review process and it is pretty flawless.
Can the same be said of BPI's R.P. online banking? The potential for hacking I think is greater here. I did a search for BPI
online banking and was suprised how little objective information there is about it. All I found were commentaries that all came across as advertisements.

I have BPI online banking and online banking with my US bank. With BPI online banking most I ever do is check my balance. I don't see much of a use for the system beyond that. My US bank account I do everything from making payments, swapping money around, paying bills online, and applying for lines or credit when needed.

Guess I'd say BPI''s online banking is lacking in my opinion including on user friendliness.

It allows you to transfer via online to your other account, pay bills pldt, globe, etc., purchased Prepaid phone/txt cards and way back, i used it paying my school tuition ( ADMU) via online , I dont know if SU qualified for that.

Fraud happens even with online banking in US accounts. But it's probably easier to file a claim ang get your money back than to have fraud issues resolved with banks here.

I still do online transactions through BPI coupled with Paypal.

BPI's online service is one of the best among local banks. Been using it for like 10 years now, and don't have complaints about security issues or inaccessibility. Regular maintenance downtime are also announced well ahead of time.

Also, the 24/7 customer service by telephone is excellent.

Of course, security is only as good as it's weakest link - so make sure your desktop OS is secured from malware, too. Not a problem on Linux.

I don't dispute your experience with BPI. So far they have been ok for me. However, I decided against online banking with them. The reason? Read their online agreement you must consent to open online banking. If anything goes wrong they assume NO LIABILITY or Responsiblity. You are S.O.L., especially as a foreigner.

I don't know of any bank that would assume any liability "for anything that goes wrong".

Better than R.P. and more recourse

I know my U.S. bank does for credit card fraud, and I THINK they are better for online too. I think it may depend on the amount lost.
I do know that their online banking has been flawless. I have not read their user agreement. But in the U.S. as a Citizen I have recourse if the bank fails to satisfy, someone to complain to-attorney generals, the courts. What do I have here? Nothing I think. BPI uses email alot more for online accounts, my USA bank does not-email is inherently insecure. I do not even trust https with emailing sensitive information. It is not a perfect protocol and has been hacked (although few have the skills to do it). I don't have great confidence in the banks here regardless if someone says they have not had any problems. Doing an online search of problems with BPI or any R.P. bank for that matter, may cause one to re-evaluate any confidence they have in R.P. banks.
But I agree with you insofar as banks are mostly not to be trusted in general.

Been using BPI Online and Mobile Banking, havent had any problems with them... use it for payments and transfers... their mobile banking is really convenient as well... as long as you have mobile signal... they have been flawless with mine as well since any third party accounts, and merchant (i.e. CC) that you do transactions with (online payments, transfers), you have to enroll them, so you are assured that transactions remains with those that you have knowledge of. Been using it since 2009.
