We had a canopy recently installed on our roof but it wasn't an easy process.
PLDT/Smart Mybro has this 499 cash-out for the first month for the 999/mo up to 1 Mbps unlimited broadband plus free 10 ft pole. I told the agents when they came to my house after I filed up the form that I would pay them when they come the next day as promised to install/set-up as I know once they get the money they would procrastinate.
A supervisor called me the next day and asked me to pay bcoz they installation guys won't leave until they get a copy of the receipt. I went to their office at Rob and payed. It was saturday. I was right, they didn't show up until monday afternoon.
The installation guys climbed up the roof and seconds later told me I would need more than the 10 feet free pole to raise the canopy to get a better signal.
I told them that the agents said the location is perfect "line of sight", we are in Upper Cantil-e and the house is elevated and 2 storey.
They asked me P6,000 for a 60 ft pole, I said that's too much. Is this something you guys do just to earn money, perhaps we can negotiate. They said no, that's the standard rate. Can you give me a receipt? They said no.
I went ballistic. I called Smart and the supervisor.
I told them this is a rip-off. Why would I pay for the another 6K. I told them I am going to complain to BIR (Internal Revenue/TAX) for not issuing receipt and to DTI (trade and Industry) for misleading promo ads. It was never mentioned on the flyer that there will be additional cost for the installation.
Their excuse: the installation guys are from a contracted company called FALCO and they don't know how they deal with it. I told them, "What do I care, I let them in thinking it's PLDT/SMART, they're installing your product so I don't care about Falco. You have to answer to all of the complaints I am going to file!"

An hour later, the 60 ft pole is up and I did't pay for the 6K.

I had globe Internet in motong- dumaguete which drove me nuts! I filed 3 pages complaint addressed to the Manila main office, that I gave it to the Manager of dumaguete, But in order for me to be heard I spoke to her nicely or diplomatically. I named all the globe staff who were involved of total rip-0ff. Later, after my constant annoyance to their office, a private investigative group sent from Manila to asked me load of questions...I don't know what exactly the outcome afterwards! so, I decided to I disconnect their service when the technician(sub contractor manager called me that his workers is going to lost their job. And now in Valencia I'm with PLDT almost same story at the beginning and I fought every service men who comes to fix the trouble, and I scream on the telephone customer service whenever I have network problem! AND, I think it's the best solution! I got better Internet now! they probably tired of me and put me on the watchlist:smile:

Sorry for the hassle, but it sounds like you had a very good final result? How's your internet signal with your "free" 60' pole?

By "canopy" do you mean antenna??

I think you got it wrong there...PLDT dont use Canopy...its a fix line...Telephone with DSL connection and the line depends on what you pay for... either ordinary line or the fiber optic line to your place or business establishment. I think Smartbro which is now known as Mybro is into Canopy via Wimax or that typical Canopy plan. (Smartbro) now Mybro and PLDT got different field technicians. I think Smartbro - Mybro is the one trying to victim you.

Mybro is a product of PLDT & SMART. I know what mydsl is. I've had that in Manila same with Sky broadband.
Sky doesnt reach Cantil-e and wants at least 15 subscribers in my area for them to extend. PLDT Mydsl is the same story.
Filproducts is charging me P15k a month for the "special" line of 1gb unlimited DSL nternet. LOL!

They are calling it a canopy but yes it's the antenna. long rectangular cream plastic on top of the pole.
So far the connection is fast, i didnt have to reboot or refresh the router since.
I get 0.93mbps download and 0.28mbps upload though the speedtest app on my iphone.

Yes indeed they are in the same umbrella lately, PLDT are now together with Smart and Smart is now together with Suncel...but different divisions, different field technicians. I didnt like the idea of all of them being together , they're monopolizing the telecommunications industry. Thanks to LIberty - Wipro ( available only in Metro Manila) and Globe is not with them. I dont like skycable, they're capping your connection its like you're using the Globe wimax that got capping too. So far, I didn't experience scam to all of them PLDT, Smartbro, Globe wimax which all I have them as I badly needed each one of them in case something goes wrong in my connections for my online company. I think safest of all DSL connection is PLDT...Why? I think PLDT got the main source of internet connection in the Philippines...others are renting their line to PLDT. So far, based on experience PLDT rarely got downtime. Cantil-e area main road got PLDT connection, I used to live there. The Pldt connection are very stable in cantil-e compared to the place where I move now. Unfortunately, if you use a canopy ( globe wimax/ smarbro/mybro), their free pole is limited ...if you got a poor signal in your area, they will suggest you to get a higher pole for a better connection, they will ask you to buy your own pole, but that metal pole cost only less than 500/each at any hardware stores. I think 1 to 2 poles will do. This is the biggest problem here in Negros, we have limited cell site that's why they require higher pole.

That's true, I did inquire for PLDT Mydsl at first. We are in Upper Cantil-e and I told them I am willing to pay for "special" line to reach my place but they said 'no".
There is actually an antenna set-up for globe currently at the house but as I could rarely get 3g on my globe iphone I went for the Mybro. I was down to two choices, Globe and Smart/PLDT.
