    More trikes in town

Saturday there were significantly less tricycles on the highway to Bacong, but town was crowed with Trikes, as I am sure that they just moved to the streets in town. Of coarse they cause traffic jams there as they double parked or drove empty forever. I saw one double parked, sitting sidesaddle as he spoke to some friend in the passenger seat causing a major street backup. If they only let foreigners have guns many problems could be solved here....O-|....hahahaha

I'm still trying to order and then figure out how to import one of those motorcycles from the movie Delta Force with Chuck Norris. The rocket launchers and machine gun on front would help considerably and the motor launcher on back for clearing out the pesky trikes blocking things up you just passed would do wonders for clearing out congestion and bad drivers!

I live in bacong and see no difference in traffic the last few days. Been slowed up twice by pedi cabs that won't move over

I did not think it was possible to fit more tricycles in Dumaguete downtown area. I was SOOOOO wrong. I see most of them are empty with a few with 1 passenger and every once in a while I see one that actually has several passengers. Several buses with posted stops could do the job of most of the tricycles.

I think there is a lot of OFW's remittance money being burned up as "tricycle business" fuel as the driver goes around the city, empty, causing accidents, near accidents and traffic jams.

Some thoughts on all the tricycles (and I agree with flxbl2006 comments).
The owners and drivers and their families represent a significant number of votes for the provincial and city politicians.
There are probably little or no other job opportunities for the drivers.
Most of them probably have kids to feed, regardless of how little income they make.
Many of the high ranking politicians have drivers and don't have to put up with the crapola.
There are little means to police pedicabs with no lights and extra loud exhausts.
Seems like to locals really apparently are not bothered by the tricycle goat rodeos like we are.

Least what they could do is limit the number of Trike permits out there. State that no more permits will be granted and there are only X number of permits that shall be granted. X would be less then we have right now but you let it slide, bit by bit as trikes break down, or better yet have LTO on occasion watching these things or the traffic dudes writing down numbers of trikes that cause issues and slowly take away licesenses until it hits the X mark or below and then you can grant new trike permits up to that X number.

It seems to me every month there are new trikes seemingly to appear from nowhere besides the ones we already have in mass.
