Heading to Siquijor for 2 days and 2 nights on January. We're taking the fast ferry from Dumaguete, and we're planning to just rent bikes to check out the island. Trying to keep our budget low, I was wondering if there are any beach front resorts in Siquijor where we could just pitch our tents during our stay instead of renting rooms? I emailed a few resorts in Sandugan (since so far I *think* the best beaches are in that area), and Kiwi Dive Resort has replied that they don't allow that and suggested I inquire in guest houses in San Juan. How about resorts in Kagusuan? Would anyone know if we can pitch tents there for 2 nights?

    Thanks!

As you are on a tight budget, I would suggest you take Jaylan to Siquijor at around 10:15am except Saturdays (save 50 pesos each for extra 5 minutes on the boat). Rent a scooter for P300 per day right at the pier from Joy's Eatery. Stay at Das Traum Guest House (Joy is the owner) for P350 per night with fan, cable, private CR. Try cell #'s 639183479545, 639069156728, or landline 63-035-480-9117 for reservations.

Alternatively, you may be able to stay on Paliton beach for free or the public beach near Don Deezco resort. Although for P350, I would recommend Joy's option.

Thanks, SteveB! Just a couple more questions, though. Are the scooters from Joy's Eatery in good condition? I've heard disaster stories about rental bikes. I checked out the Das Traum guest house in googlemap, and I was hoping we'd get to stay by the beach. We can try pitching our tents in Paliton, but i'd prefer a resort for safety reasons. Are there any cheap beach front resorts you can recommend? We don't mind getting the cheapest fan rooms, as long as the beach is nice and good for swimming. Maybe we can even talk the owner into allowing us to just pitch tents for a small fee.

JJs Backpackers in Solangon allow the pitching of tents on their beach ...they do expect you to eat there buy i yhink trip Advisor rates them as No.1 restaurant on the island ( not true). .. but the food is pretty good. JJs does have push bikes for rent.

Cheap rooms are available for rent at Ceasars in Maite

Motorbikes are available at Castaways restaurant a little further up the road in Maite or across the road from charisma resort a short walk from JJs

You might get some info from this video. One of the DI members made a trip to Siquijor this past summer.

Here is the thread and page the video is posted in. You might want to pm Mike Alano. He's a really cool guy and could steer you in the right direction, I'm sure! >>> http://www.dumagueteinfo.com/board/general-chat/dumaguete-angler-8495-7.html

yes JJ's will I'm sure allow you to camp, but #2s reply about Das Traum is a good one, they have a larger sized fan ensuite room with cable tv for 400 that is better value than the 350 ones, in fact the best accommodation deals on Siquijor are around Siquijor town, not the more touristed section north of Larena or San Juan. There's also quiet beaches/swim spots nearby within a few minutes drive. Swiss Stars on the highway just north out of town also has good value rooms really though the place is showing its age. The middle priced room is only 560 for aircon with cable tv, there is also an absolutely huge room that is 920 I think with aircon, however you can negotiate a lesser price if you say you won't use the aircon. The massive 920 room becomes 780.
