Another absolute unbelievable tragedy in the US.

20 school children, 5 - 10 yo's, and 6 Teachers shot to death at school.

Maybe this will assist Obama's goal in amending the Gun Laws in the US. ?

I doubt the Founding Fathers who drafted the US Constitution had visions of this sort of thing happening ?

I wonder how many schools throughout the US will now make changes to their security ?

I have a friend from Australia, he said when they had the Port Arthur massacre in 1996 all licensed auto and semi auto weapons were forcibly purchased and destroyed by the government, it is now a mandatory 14 year prison sentence if caught with even a semi auto .22, unless you are licensed to use such a weapon, (eg primary producer) the weapons normally used by these crazed killers are high power semi auto’s, which were made for a war application, and should have never been allowed for private use.
If a hunter can’t clean kill his prey on his first shot, then he or she should go back to the target range and practice, not let loose with a few more poorly placed shots.
Do schools need to resort to high security due to the crazies walking the streets of USA? Or is the school system to blame? Like lack of respect etc. Just thinking out loud.

What values do we teach the children?

It think it is cultural thing, but a world wide cultural thing. If you go into an internet cafe what do you see during the day, a majority of young children playing "shoot them and kill them" video games. It only takes one in about 100 million to go from the fantasy "kill" games to real life kill games to have an incident like the mass school killing happen. When I was using the internet cafe at Robinson mall the other day, they was one young fellow (8 yo +/_) yelling, screaming and running around as he was in an internet battle. Seem like he would be a great candidate for that one in 100 million number, just add drugs and he is probably there. Laws are great, but most killing by guns are any other means is against the law, but it still happens.

Laws are fine, but if they are not enforced then they are useless. Most can not be effectively enforced, all laws really are voluntary guidelines. How many laws are broken everyday with no effort to resolve the issues. Maybe we have to look at what values we are instilling on our children. Apparently this young man involved in the mass murder also killed his mother, so there must have been a few more issues than just a bad day, or a bad kid.

My heart does go out to the parents, siblings, and all the other people worldwide who are effected by this tragedy. It really effects all of society, as we look for answers and safety in our own lives.

School shootings around the world since 1996. America has got to check the mental health issues of its citizens.

Great Map with indicators for the US. Shows a story that can not be denied. That is why I left the US. Was that the states the Obama won, or mass shooting? They look similar.

Yes Australia.....so safe.....come on down. But know this - the only people with decent firepower are the criminals....who seem to be able to import whatever weapons they like...somehow. Maybe it's the customs budget cut back by a naive government, or the police unable to do their job - being to busy with radar guns....The only good news about disarming Australians, is that mostly the criminals use their guns on other criminals....I love it here, but hard to ignore government incompetence....and I suggest we currently have the worst government in the Western world. Good news is they are gone next year and they know it.

Guns don't kill people, people do. I feel sorry for the victims and the parents of the children, but more stupid and ineffective gun control laws won't solve the problem. They just make it illegal for law abiding citizens to own guns and criminals to do what they want to do to an unarmed populace. In this instance this guy was pissed off and wanted to kill everyone, if he didn't have access to a gun he would have likely found another way.

There have been 100 school shooting deaths in the last 20 years in the U.S. A person is more likely to get struck and killed by lightning than get killed in a school!

    Lightning fatalities in the U.S.

Opponents of guns always point out the negative aspects, as does the liberal U.S. media, but they rarely if ever point out how many robberies, murders, rapes, assaults, and what have you were prevented because the victim avoided the crime because they defended themselves with a gun!

Violent crime statistics in the U.S. have been steadily declining for the last 20 or so years with 2011 the one exception, undoubtedly because of the poor economy and more people turning to criminal behavior to survive.

How many of you would feel safe going to a bank here in the Philippines that didn't have armed guards with guns? Do you really think if guns were outlawed that criminals would obey the law and not have guns? If you really think that, you are delusional.

The founding fathers of the U.S. knew that a law abiding populace that owned guns is one of the few things a government fears. No fear, and a government will try to do what it pleases.

Banning guns is a feel good, but do nothing about the real problem measure that does nothing to solve the behavior problems of those that would commit such acts. It removes the right of a person to defend themselves, their family, and their property. Criminals never wait for law enforcement to arrive. What are you going to do, yell, "I'm calling the police" while while the criminal does what they want?? I'll take a gun any day over feel good laws that accomplish nothing.

So what is your solution, you only defent to have guns so lets go on with killing children and aceept it
as a natural thing like lightning.

Education of gun owners is the solution and no my "only" defense is not to "lets go on killing children and accept it as a natural thing like lightning". School shootings are unacceptable, but what is acceptable? Robbery, murder, rape, and theft? Guns aren't the problem, and gun laws that restrict gun ownership are not the solution. What is your solution?

Why do they want our guns?
