A good thing you guys are doing, well done, I will try and scrape up some Pesos for it also.

 

Thanks Bob. The suprise, the smile on the kids faces, the excitement of the kids seeing Santa, makes it very worthwhile.

Update.

We've just about got everything we need to go into the gift bags. Just a few items to get to pad the bags out a bit.

I have visited the hospital on the required recce and checked with the nursing staff that it is ok for us to go, as we dont want to disrupt any hospital routine. Because of the extensive rebuild programme, the layout has changed but it works well in our favour. Last year we kept finding new wards, as they were scattered far and wide and some we found just by accident. This year there are just two locations. New mothers and premature babies in the building on the left (as last year) and all others on the top floor of the building on the right facing the North highway. Simples.

For the willing band of helpers these are the timings for Sunday 23rd December.

1730. Meet at Casablanca - cold drinks.
1800. Depart for Provincial hospital.
1830. Commence the gift distribution. Male helpers are allowed to be kissed by nurses. !!
1930. Should be all done by now.
1931. Depart for Casablanca for drinks and nibbles.

A couple of hours in the year is not much time to give to make a special day for kids who have virtually nothing, so let's make it a good one.

just wanna add some pictures I took while the rest was working hard to sort out the bags for the kids. Well I was captures in my room anyway as the house transferred once again into a bodega...

However, we got 150 present-bags for the kids:

50 Newborn and very young kids



40 young kids unisex:



30 boys up to 10-ish



30 girls up to 10-ish

All pacifiers are tested, the bottom wipes were fresh, alcohol worked, and the cuddly toys test-cuddled, so were are ready for tomorrows trip to Provincial hospital.

 

Great work Rechel and Kids and Rhoody for putting together 150 individual packages for the sick kids at the Provincial Hospital, and also to Broadside for adding a car load of stuffed animals. Thank you Dr. Mike for volunteering to be our Santa for our event tomorrow night at the children's wards at the Provincial Hospital.

We just come back from our "Project Santa 2012" and a little kid which might not even leave the hospital alive, gave me all the reasons why we do all that... she said:
