I just pointed from your classifieds and the 40k quote to this thread ...

However 40k, that is what you get as they are not capable of any math, or think they are something special. if worked for a few long-noses before.

just had recently a guy here to renovate my kitchen. He was working here for some other stuff before.

He quoted 15k for 2 weeks, him and a helper. I just turned around in disgust. Then he came down to 10K. His work was pretty fair before, so we agreed. 2 days before the agreed starting day, he let his chick call that he need to start a week later.

So we organized another guy who could start immediately for less. When the original guy called to start, we told him a friendly F... U...

I got him recommended here on DI and I recommended him also to a friend of mine, after his first job. Maybe too much honor, as his attitude and math regarding salary obviously sucks now.

If you have no long-nose here to supervise every little step and is not afraid to be the bad boy, you run into problems anyway.

Thanks very much jack, I wonder if you could advice me here, as i have had a builder quote me for repair a sea wall, he estimated 50 sack of cement, then 4 truck or sand, i dont know elf size or large truck, in materials, so i estimate that at around 15,000 pesos,
but the guy has quoted 40,000 for the work, including materials,
i thought about 20,000 would be more like it, do these constuction guys really charge double on the job there?

do you know any one who could go take a look at my place in dauin and give me a reasonable quote or a team we can pay day to day and supply the materials ourselves?
    cheers

Thank you very much rhoody, i can understand your words completly as i lived in Angeles city for 6 years and it is such a mirror on the work front, i have posted a copy of what i posted to jack on the classified section,
its a right pain not being there and sorting this stuff out personally,

for some reason we used to get the same style of calulations from locals in angeles, then i just hired the guys myself and didnt talk about quotes! just buy the materials needed and hire them by the day/week,
any lazy sleepers fired , but just as you say of you leave a shy pinoy in charge nothing will get done correctly anyway.

So now we no longer have a sea defence wall of any use, annoys me and i am not even there

Have you been looking at my wage book. that's just what I am paying my workers, except the Carpenter is a Working Foreman

BTW, PM for you on a Builder but shoot Expatron a post as he has a team that may be able to help.

    Hope that is OK:confused: Ron
