Afer two Tyfoons (divesites)

Dear divers

I want to come over to Dumaguete for again diving over there in the aria Dauin an Apo Island.
But last year after Sendong a lot of corals were gone , broke and dead and a lot of silk
covered the rest of the corals.

Ik was very sad to see specialy arond the Dauin area.
But how is the condition after te last tyfoon , I think more as very bad , so I like some information from local divers who did dive there after the tyfoon.
No please no comments of diveshops and diveresort because they will say "nothing wrong" I can understand that
because it is their busines.

So Rhoody you need two days to find a good divesites,
I hope you will be honest because we have to pay a lot of money to come from Holland and dive over there what also cost a lot of money
And you know thatI know the area as my backyard and I have seen it already after Sendong and everytime when I ask this Question I dont get an answer, than I am thinking why but you know that answer.

In one hand you say nothing, but in the other hand you tell me eveything.
But you are afraid about overreaction, tell me why if it is still ok over there about what are you afraid of.
Lack of information is the feul for overreaction.
No I dont go to the whaleshark fair in Oslob it is against every natural behaivior how they treat those animals.

I have heard nothing definite about the Dauin reefs. Miguel (sanmig) the gave us some unbiased firsthand reports a year ago, and I hope he will do the same again.

Only this much do I know for sure: two different friends of mine who came as our house-guests, both experienced divers, did multiple dives at Apo and Siquior islands in February and April of 2012 -- they both reported that they could see significant damage to the reefs (esp east side of Apo), but that the reefs were still quite beautiful and filled with sea-life, and that the dives were still totally worthwhile, they had a great time; those are still world-class reef-diving sites.

 

I come over for more as 10 years twice a year to Dauin for diving and I know the divesites very well.
I was there in april 4 month after Sendong and most of the divesites were in a bad shape no one can tell
me that it was not because I did compare it with the past.
I know that Apo Island was also damaged on the east side of Apo but Apo has the advance that you also can dive for a few days at the other side what is still beautifull (correct me if I am wrong)
Sendong came at low tide that means the the corals were more damaged than when it was hit at high tide.
So I am now very curious how the shape is about the divesites at Dauin aspecially.
When I ask a direct question by mail I never got a strait answer so that is why I ask it now on Dumaguete forum

For soft corals it takes about four years for hard corrals yes 10 years or more, If it will not hit again
by another tyfoom hopefully.

Malatapay has not so much corrals (almost nothing) more criters hunting in the sand, try Bahura but I have the idea that Bahura has also a big problem.
