    Hello dear members,

I'm looking for some advice as to where the best place to have my 4 year old son circumcised in Dumaguete would be.

Before i take him anywhere, I'd like some info on what method they use and what the costs involved arebut thusfar haven't had much luck in getting a response. I was considering Siliman Medical center but haven't heard back from them with any info. if anyone here has any advice or has had a related experience, i would love to hear from you.

    Regards

    Craig

My boy's doctor at Silliman recommended against circumcision siting risk of infection. Another forum member said his boy's circumcision was a bloody mess. I will wait until he is 12 or 13 (which I am told is typical here) and make a decision at that time. Just my opinion.

I don't know why they don't do it at birth like in the US. As far as infection I'd think that has to do with the proceedure itself. Unclean inviorment. I've always heard the younger the better.

Check out the Wellness center web site in Cebu. Exellent care there.

My son is 7 and we need to have his done. My understanding is the risk of pinal cancer is higher in uncircumsized males.

If it were my boy ... I go to St. Lukes in Manila.. Price to me would not matter ... just the best facility....I don't think there is any worry about doing it ......But should have been done when he was born...

Circumcision is considered a minor surgical procedure and may be done by any general practitioner. Heck, even the local "mananambal" do it.

This custom stems from cultural tradition but rarely is there a medical reason for such surgery. The procedure also desensitizes the glans making sex less pleasurable. (That'd be hearsay in my case, since I got the cut when I was eleven and has yet to do the deed.)

There's a huge controversy on this: Rebuttal of the Mayo Clinic's circumcision advice

I wouldn't want to impose on my boy's right. IMO, it's his body and his decision when he's old enough to learn the pros and cons. It can be done any age but foreskin "restoration" is neither cheap or easy.

if you don't have religious reasons, just teach him the hygiene basics to clean himself proper.

Isn't it cruel and against the law to hurt a child for no reason ?

The point of my initial post seems to have been lost. I wasn't looking for the pros and cons to circumcision. There is no decision to be made in that respect. He is definitely getting circumcised. And we've decided this is the best time. I just would prefer to do it in Dumaguete as opposed to taking all the way to Cebu to have it done.

    @cahughes77

Like I wrote, any general practitioner may do it since it's a minor procedure it could be done in a clinic in as short as 40 minutes. Cost would be in the range of 70 USD.

The coming summer vacation time here is the circumcision (tuli) months. There is often some signage around reminding boys and parents that its that time of year again.

You may see a young lad holding his pants away from his newly modified extremity as he gingerly walks along.

The bus ride home from Cebu would be a bit painful also!
