Thailand is a big country and Bangkok is a big city. If you don't know where to start you may consider: Bumrungrad Internationalhospital:Bumrungrad International Hospital | Bangkok Thailand - Medical Procedures/Health Check-ups I don't know the hospital but it has a very good location between Sukhumvit Soi 1 and Soi 2. I would check out St. Lukes in Manila no need for Thailand...Thats where the rich and famous here go..BTW this is Lenny sat 1 off from you.... we played poker at the Pearl the other day and we talked bout the accident take care dude
Lenny: while it may be a bit more expensive in Thailand they are miles ahead of the Philippines when it comes to health care. I have heard that the prices are the same or slightly more expensive to about 25 percent more expensive. From what I hear doctors and nurses there are far more educated and are generally more concerned about their patients. From I noticed when I was there life didn't seem as cheap. I know the grass isn't always greener on the other side but when you live in a desert wasteland of medical care it's hard to see it getting much worse.
So an ultrasound would be a good and cheap alternative to an MRI for diagnosis purposes since I will likely need another MRI before any surgery? If it's only a couple hundred pesos compared to 5k I think it would be worth a try. I'm not sure where I would find a tech in dumaguete to do this though. Ever ultrasound tech I've seen works at a women's clinic. I doubt they would have any idea how to do an ultrasound on a shoulder. Several medical sites said an ultrasound could be used diagnose a torn rotator cuff, so I know it's possible.
I had Ultrasound done at Holy Child, you need a request from a Doctor, you can probably get one from one of the Secretaries, by telling her, that the Doctor requested it...
As i have no idea what it will cost, i found a price of 275,000 Thai baht on the internet: Rotator Cuff Repair Thailand - Check Prices and Compare Reviews
An ultrasound would be a good and cheap alternative if whoever is doing the diagnosing can make out the ultrasound, if not it is a waste of time and money. If it was me, and I decided to go the ultrasound route, I would be looking at the ultrasound screen while they are doing the procedure and agree with them about which images should be captured and saved for you instead of getting who knows what for images and having a doctor tell you that "these are of no use". Make sure they can capture images beforehand! Some places will, and some won't! As far as an MRI goes, the surgeon may decide that he wants to see "recent" images, so if it is going to be a while before you get it fixed, yes, the MRI route may be a waste except for accurate diagnostic purposes. - my 2 cents
I had torn rotators in both my right and left shoulder. Had radical old fashion surgery on the right (too much racquetball) back in 1980 and arthoscropy of the left (gym injury) in 2003. Left healed quick and without problems, right has always been deformed and stiff. Amazing how great technology can improve surgery.
