When I first came to Makati I found out mosquitos are very attracted to me - the feeling is not mutual, to be sure. I had a near-fatal case of Encephalitis in the military so I hate the buggers. I asked the hotel security guard who's post was at the main door at night what is the best remedy. I had come from Singapore and in addition to repellant it was recommended to use lavender soap when you shower, and it worked pretty good but couldn't find lavender soap for sale in Makati. The security guard told me I should get Off, that is what they use here, so I started using it daily and still do. However, the local bug fellas here seem to ignore the Off spread and go for my blood like mini-vampires.
So my question to the Forum, does anyone have an alternative that works here? Thanks.

Thank God they don't care for me. I get 1-2 bites a month in a bad month. I've also found that staying close to others that they do like works well for me.

How about the bottle of Tanduay and an ex wife that eats 1 cup of sugar a day to at least taste sweet to the buggers? Just a joke.....

I'll definately need to try some of this stuff when I'm there, cause nothing seems to work for Me either. Them little Lamok bastards sure love to tear up My ankles whenever I'm there..Funny thing is though, once I've been there for a Month or so They stop bothering Me. Don't know what it is, because from the moment I get there I eat and drink everything that the locals do... them little Buggers must not be colored blind and know exactly Who the Cano is... Guess it would help if I had hairy legs, then They might not be able to Penetrate so easily.....cheers

Mosquitoes are attracted to heat. When you come from a cooler climate your body is used to having to heat itself. After you have been in the Philippines a few weeks the internal heating system begins to ease up. Which might explain why the mosquitoes don't find you quite to attractive. Ever notice when you travel back to a cold country that you seem to shiver for the next few weeks.

Another product by Johnson called "Off overtime" last for eight hours so they say.
Other than that, nightime wear long sleeve Shirts and lightweight trousers and just apply the cream to exposed parts.
and dont take a leak against the wall :p
