I agree that the forum can only improve from here forward. Being a lurker myself for several years I would read posts but rarely comment on them, mainly because I considered the forum a social club comprised of folks who actually lived in or around Dumaguete City. If the forum that existed was what they wanted then so be it was my thought. Who is "they" ? you may ask, that would be the moderator and the aptly coined "inner circle" - the same 10 guys responsible for 70% of the posts on any given day. Lots of good info from the inner circle, thoughtful, informative, insightful, and at times, even wise. The moderator gave a very good effort initially and was sporadically successful. But, ultimately the blunt speaking morphed into rude tackless arrogance coupled with a bully-boy attitude that was prone to temper tantrums. Unimpressive. "They" would reward those who agreed with them and gang up on those who didn't. Fact. I remember on two occasions ( I don't recall the specific dates and threads) writing a response to what I considered to be an interesting thread only to find it had been locked. Why? cant really say for sure but if I look out the window in the morning and see wet streets I'm thinking it rained last night. Oh, BTW the threads being referred to weren't going all that well for the mod and/or inner circle. You connect the dots. The only reason I'm throwing my 2 cents in now is I will be in Dumaguete on April 23, 2013. I will be there for a month, where do people congregate? I'm not really a McDonalds type of person..... lol booze, food, water, fresh air, a/c, music and conversation that can actually be heard over the music,, yeah,, that's me. Joe
I am deleting posts every day trying to get things to work out. I am looking in to getting some help on the moderation.
There is a small differences between opinions and berating people. There is always the possibility of improvement in anything. I do feel that various opinion are great, however there is a very small distance between opinions, and exerting opinion by sniping at other opinions. Let each person state they own clearly and independently not particularly being critical of the heritage of the person creating an differing opinion. Even the classification of "us" versus "them" and grouping of people such as "innercircle" I do not think ads to the creditably of the opinion or opinion presenter. I would also like to express this forum had another purpose than being the editorial section of a world political discussion. It was suppose to help people adapt to living in the Filipino culture and Dumaguate specifically. It has worked well for me and still does for that purpose Many still use the form for this purpose as the new tread "is there a CVS pharmacy here" can attest too. For many the only way they will find out what Dumaguete is like to to ask here. I am not too much into world political discussions, as armchair solutions never seem to be used to solve the world problems by those in power. But if there is a need that area of discussion let there be a section on world politics, but I think Rhoody did a good job on controlling political and religious discussions, those are the type of discussions that even rip apart families and nations, much less this forum. (not an original idea by me but previously expressed in by someone which I agree with.) I hope we an all worked together to keep this the great forum that is was and could be in the future. Thanks to the Dane for trying to carry the extra burden of moderator for a while as he looks for an adequate replacement. It is it is one of the joys of ownership to carry that burden by the owner/management team... ugh, oh sh*t he quit!!!! Whose going to do all the work now?. (my opinion) When any person leaves it is usually unbelievable how much work he did and how much responsibility he had in controlling and making critical decisions. Soon everyone is talking about how much he did, and he get credit for evey bad decision every made by the group..lol. I am glad Rhoody seems to be respect well enough to be fairly admirer and criticized at the same time. That is an indicator of a healthy group.
What are the feelings about having a "thumbs down button / Don't like button" ? Maybe something like if a post gets 10 " Thumbs downs" then that post is hidden. And if an individual gets too many posts hidden they are barred from the Forum. How about we leave it up to the members to decide who stays and who goes ? Food for thought.
Thanks for the advice, I will take it into consideration. However, those that know me would probably tell you I have a real good life, so no worries. As for the moderator position, I don't need the money or the headaches. Keep those good ideas coming to me.

Of course they will come back, especially now when the "FORUM SUCKS" and the "PISSING CONTEST" is over........ROFL It's a New Day.......
Still snarky comments going on here. No d*mn point to this thread. Should be deleted. It'll just continue to go back and forth. Let it go FFS.
