Hi all, my fiancee wants to vist Australia for about 2-3 months using a tourist visa, has anyone applied for a Ausie Tourist Visa recently, I have read the web page info (immi.gov.au) on this subject and my partner has chated with a couple of her friends in Dumgaguete, but all have different versions and opions on what is needed, can anyone help with advice on current requirements for a tourist visa to Australia.
Download the 48R form from the immi.gov.au website. Pay the visa application fee $110. Fill out the form and make sure that the applicant complies with all the requirements stated on the front of the form. Send them a letter advising that you will shoulder accommodation and any financial expenses to support them, basically a letter of support. Provide financial records such as a bank statement for the last 6 months, otherwise a bank balance is fine. They will get a courier to collect her passport/application and send it back with the eVisa or stamped visa depending on who is your case officer. All done! The alternative is that THEY can fill it out and lodge it via a eVisa application now, but you still have to send docs over to her via email to show support. Good luck! I have done it every year....
Thanks Ninja, I have searched the web site but for the life of me can't find the form you mention 48R, all i can find is the tourist form 600, is this the same? Also i was told if i sponsor my partner the govenment requires a $1000 bond for every month she stays in Australia. Also do you know how much roughly we need in bank statement to satisfy immigration when applying...thanks if you can help.
I took my ex to Australia in 2009 and 2010, she needed x-rays for TB, also proof of ownership of property (to make sure there is a reason to leave AU and come back to the phills) I have heard now that if the lady is 30 years or more your junior then you will need the property proof, I had to have a letter of invitation, phone calls / phone account, emails for the past 12 months, photos of us together in the phills, and as per Ninja’s advise, there is also the bond arrangement .
Sorry Aussie 50 for the late reply. I dont get on here often, just now and again to see if there are any updates. Looks like they have changed the form as I have just checked the website and it is now a application form 1419 : Follow this link : Australian Visa Wizard - Visas & Immigration Bond also depends on how young the person is and the risk of defaulting her expired departure. I have been lucky that I have only had to pay $2K for a regular female visitor ONCE out of 10 trips. I guess it depends on the case officer who is looking after your case. I noticed that the fee is now $115. Speaking to my sister who works in immigration in Brisbane, she told me that there are alot of changes now and it will affect 457 holders so it is not as easy for them to gain permanent residency, although this visa will not apply to your friend as she is coming in on a tourist visa, not a skilled visa. Good luck!
