The plastic (teflon) of non-stick cookware is carcinogenic when ingested and not worth the health risk. I wouldn't bother using it if I was you, but to each their own. Stainless steel or cast iron is a much better choice, and both last almost forever.

    Non-stick cookware, a cancer risk.

Okay.....exactly where can I buy cast iron pans here??!! I have looked the obvious places and some not so obvious...but have come to the conclusion they don't sell cast iron skillets!! I agree with your statement about the teflon, though, NOT GOOD!!

Non-stick spray is usually available at Robinson's. Look down the imported goods aisle.

I think your assumption may be correct, at least in Dumaguete. I know some resort to having them shipped in a balikbayan box, but I would imagine they can be found in Cebu or Manila somewhere? Personally, we use stainless steel, with the exception of a large wok that is aluminum. I would rather NOT use aluminum, but haven't seen a large enough steel wok here that is NOT non-stick.

When I use my aluminium pans or non stick I use wooden spoons to stir or suitable spatulas, non of my food has ever tasted of Teflon or aluminium. Do you also check the kitchens of your eating out places and friends to ensure you are not eating pan.. Do you also wear a dust mask, when breathing your air ?? Good lord live on please and take best care out there..

Yes one can easily get carried away, but there are obvious and proven health risks that can be easily eliminated. By not using non-stick cookware one can very easily be eliminated. It has nothing to do with using wood spoons with nonstick. It has to do with the chemicals that are released into food when it is heated. Chemicals that can not be tasted. I'll pass. Aluminum oxide consumption promotes alzheimers disease. I choose to reduce or eliminate that risk, instead of later "forgetting" about it. To each their own.

I usually go on smell and taste when eating and try not to worry myself to much about the ally pan or Teflon coating.
Are these still on sale in all countries ?? Maybe not in the clever rich countries like Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, USA..
Oh no we also had ally mess tins and ally tea mugs when I was in the Army I am Fu..doomed..:(

Every male in my family for the last 4 generations have had alzheimers. I'm screwed, they likely lived a MUCH healthier lifestyle than me. I'm shooting for 45 years right now, anything more is just a bonus in my books.
