It is astonishing that it took 45 minutes to get out of a plane that had crash landed!? Emergency evacuation should start immediately after it is determined that it is, in fact, safe to leave the aircraft. I have seen file footage of passengers that died after a successful emergency landing because they did not evacuate quickly. If I had been sitting in an exit row, I would have opened the emergency exit as soon as I saw that the crew were not taking action (after ensuring no fire in that area, of course). How often have you read the evacuation procedures when sitting in an exit row? Ever? Would you really know how to open the door quickly in an emergency? Being able to exit an aircraft quickly in an emergency can save your life as well as those behind you. I always shake my head at the complacency on aircraft with regard to safety procedures. Next time you fly, take a look around the passengers, especially those sitting in exit rows and notice how many are not paying attention to the safety instructions provided by the flight attendants and if anybody reads the safety informaton card!
Steve, complacency is the name of the game here, and that includes the cabin crew. Unless you've heard, in a previous life, a hairy-arsed loadmaster yelling from the open tail ramp of a C130, "Red, stand by, Green GO" most people don't really know how to exit an aircraft safely!!!
An interesting read! Nothing surprises me here, about the same standards as we see on the roads,no wonder they are not allowed in many western countries!
Try watching this video of China airlines Flight 120, a Boeing 737 in Okinawa, China Airlines Flight 120 on fire - YouTube and it is easy to see why it is so important to exit the aircraft quickly after an emergency landing. In this case, although the egress was still too slow and disorganized, everybody managed to escape just before the aircraft exploded.
Only have ever used them twice, Disgusted with there attitude, Time keeping In fact every element of the flight , Have always used Pal, since then. Never a problem & always treated like a customer. Maybe Cebu Pacific should concentrate on Passenger safety instead of dancing in the aisle.... Think the FAA should be looking closely at them...
