I have seen several nice looking apartment buildings within 1-2km of FU. Just drive along the roads near foundation and walk in to any you see. I would guess in that area a small apartment should be around the 5-10k price range for a foreigner. Don't expect too many landlords to reply/followup to calls/texts, that's just not how business is done here.
Check this place out: http://www.dumagueteinfo.com/board/...ango-apartment-rent-only-10k-month-12101.html Looks very nice for the price
I've seen some apartments similar to that in the 4-5k range. As foreigners here we dramatically overpay for rent (including myself, I pay 12k). It is very possible to get a place at half of price of what anyone advertising to "foreigners" is asking.
We found a 3 bedroom up and down cr and shower, hot water, air con main bed room, in a quiet 4 unit block un furnished 8000 peso a mothh plus 5000p bond . so they are out there if you look. cheers
Such as? I went to a girls place and it was identical to an apartment I once rented (her bedroom was a bit smaller but overall there was no difference) and was furnished with better furniture than my landlord had given me. She had wifi, electricity, aircon, ref, stove, etc etc. She paid 4k as where I paid 12k. The complex also had security cameras.
Actually, it looked like there were about 6 apartments in the building......so there are 6 in a million. I can't exactly remember where it was but if you are coming down from Valencia it is either the left turn at Hypermart or the one before. It was 100 meters before the bridge and about 50 meters off the road on the left. Two story apartment building. Maybe the girl was the landlords gf/daughter/cousin as she was very nervous and instructed me to avoid one of the cameras. Could explain why it was so cheap.
