I have been living in Baguio for almost 7 months now

I love it up here but I really wish Gunther would open a Casablanca branch up here.

Food is decent but nowhere as nice as anything I had in Casablanca.

Come on Gunther... Please open up a branch here

Agree, the only negative to my opinion is the house wine they serve from a carton: I call it "Chateau Migraine", no need to say I tried it once and never again. And of course I can buy a whole bottle, but finishing a bottle of wine on my own, no way, while leaving the left over in the bottle for my next visit, will certainly not improve the taste of the wine. Bringing home, than I better buy a bottle in Robinson or Hypermarket or the W&L store near Acuna on Hibbard Ave.
Wonder why the choice for house wine cannot be from a modest priced bottle of wine, like they offer in Why Not, Mifune and other restaurants.
So Guenther, if you read this, give it a thought; thanks for the improvement.

Last week the red house wine was bottle not carton.

How can anybody with all screws in place and tighten up in Dumaguete click "like" on the idea that he opens a restaurant in Baguio. The service and quality goes down when he is on a trip away from Dumaguete. Staff hiding somewhere or having their lunch in the restaurant at noon-time while customers sit outside being neglected. I can usually tell with a look on his website from the daily special menu if he is in Dumaguete or not.

My recommendation to Gunter is NOT to open anything else anywhere but focus on his stuff here.

Having said that, even with him being away, it is still the best food joint in Dumaguete. Him being around and Casablanca is outstanding.

All this week the house red has been bottled, most recently (last night) a Paul Masson California red.

I have recently seen advertisement in the News Paper asking to keep an eye on the opening of Casablanca Rest. in Bacolod City. Not sure if the have opened yet.

The technique I use if I have to drink house wine, rather than a decent bottle, is to order two glasses and drink them real fast, then order another one and you find the third glass doesn't taste as bad, so it seems. Next morning, yep, you pay the piper.
At Casablanca, treat yourself to a bottle of Bilbao or Protos, nice reds.

I know that Spanish wine, not that bad @all. I can wait to treat myself with a good bottle of wine once back home every year, where I have a wide choice of wines which are really my taste but not available here.
It only means that even in the PH you cannot have all.

John, are you in the area or in Holland? Let's get together and share a bottle. Cheers.

Maybe they ran out of stock of the cartons. I should not post my findings if it was only very exceptional, so it looks like you more lucky than I do. Paul Masson is a way better than those headache fillers from the carton.
