Hi people, New guy to the forum but not to the Philippines. I am 61 years old, male, divorced and at the moment a free spirit. I have visited the Philippines several times over the years and was married to a Filipina 20 odd years ago who I met in New Zealand. Unfortunately the marriage didn't work out but on reflection maybe it was for the best. I live on my sailing yacht at the moment and am cruising the coast from Brisbane to Darwin. I intend to sell my boat in Darwin and already have a few people interested. I am very interested in the Dumaguete area and also Tambobo Bay as I intend to buy another boat some time after I arrive there. I am also interested in the Carmen area north of Cebu City because there are a couple of slipways for boats there that have been recommended to me, but I feel that the Dmte area would suit me reasonably well as a place to live and enjoy life. As I said i have visited various parts of the Philippines in the past and have travelled extensively over the years so have a reasonable idea as to the kind of life I am looking for. I may have questions for the group at times and am looking forward to meeting some of you once I am there. At the moment I am looking to relocate around late August if everything goes well here and I sell my boat, otherwise I will just have to sail it over I guess. Anyway before I ramble on too much this is just a G'day to the group. I have enjoyed reading past posts for some time now and look forward to participating in the future. Lexx
Hi Lexx Like you I'm planning to make my move to Dumaguete soon. I should be there around the last week of July. I'm 60 and mostly single hahah. I have owned a few power boats but have no knowledge of sail boats. Looking forward to meeting up with you when we both get there. Bill
Hi Bill, thanks for the welcome. I think I will be looking for a power boat something around 35 feet long that can be used as a live aboard, shallower draft than a yacht and more usable for fishing trips. I am getting a bit old to be worrying about sail handling. I am not sure of my timetable yet, all depends on when or if I sell the yacht. Catch up for a beer sometime for sure, Lexx
