If one wanted to spend a month enjoying the nightlife, which
    City would you choose?

In order of preference, the same way that you have listed them.

Dumaguete is way, way down the list for nightlife. You'll get bored of any city within a course of a month if you're out every night. I'd do 3 days Cebu (weekend only), 1-2 weeks Angeles, 1-2 weeks Olongapo (Barrio Barretto), then 2 nights in Makati on Burgos (if money is no issue).

I haven't been to Angeles for 19 years now. Do they still have Ricks bar?
When you walk in there is a monkey in a cage on the left who jumps on
The cage, Nd on the right there is a pool table?

Ricks bar is closed because they decided to build a shopping center at his location. He still sells online stuff.

Almost all the bars are part of a group now. Very commercialized. Olongapo is the same way but still gives a more provincial, friendly feel.

There are some decent local bars in dumaguete. Azul and Tiki Bar are both nice places, there is another around the corner from Hayahay but it's hit and miss on a crowd. You just have to go with some friends to have any fun to the local bars. I prefer those bars on acoustic nights as I like to have a conversation while drinking.

Anything on the the blvd is crap at the moment. There are no discos worth going to in this city. But for live music at local bars dumaguete really isn't that bad. Sometimes it's nice to get away from the foreigner establishments and go local.

There are two different kinds of nightlife in the Philippines:

    1) Girly bars / prostitution
    2) Places to go out with your friends to eat, dance, sing or listen to life music

If you are looking for the first kind of night life, Dumaguete is way down the list, even though prostitution seems to be on the rise in the city.

If you are looking for the second kind of night life, for some odds reason nightlive in Dumaguete is on the decline even while the city is growing and attracting more visitors.

I have been coming in Dumaguete for 9 years, and used to go out quite a lot with my wife. But for my last visits it has been less and less, simply because all the places, we used to go to, are either closed or not nearly as nice, as they used to be. The only exeption is the outdoor restaurant and life music venue Hayahay, which is currently the only large establishment, which seems to be thriving and attracting enough customers.

And while some new bars and discos have opened in Dumaguete during the past 5 years or so, these are all very small and only really suitable for young people.

If you are looking for girly bars, the center for these in the Philippines is Angeles City, but you can also go to Manila, Cebu or Sabang on Mindoro.

If you are looking for other nightlive, Cebu is a good choise, and basically any large city is better than Dumaguete. Regarding live bands for example, the best bands obviously go, where they can earn most money. And that is not in a small city like Dumaguete.

There is one large disco in Dumaguete, Why Not, and they have a live band every wednesday. But its been the same live band since at least 2004, and compared to what you can experience in Manila, Cebu or even Cagayan de Oro, its not really worth mentioning.
