    I was agreeing Roadking. If my (theoretical) country was financially sound and we were invited to join, I would be telling them we'll be thinking about it for about the next 50 years, if the EU should last that long and my perpetual answer would be, still thinking. I thought of saying if we went bankrupt that we should sign up too, but really it would probably be easier to pull ourselves out of it if we didn't.

    The UK government have & I don't think ever will put the UK's membership { do we remain in or not } to a democratic vote /referendum, Because they know the average Joe would say we pull out.
    As we are sick of bailing out third world so called European countries { Greece, Ireland, Spain Italy & any other ex Soviet satellite country that now proclaims is self to be a sovereign state. }
    It is not only the Euro Bail out, But giving them massive Money for subsidies , Cash for building Countries infrastructures Etc.
    I cannot not believe that Major Contributors Like Germany, France & any other Northern European country is still happy to shell out for these failed states.
    I am English as if you couldn't tell ! & In general the UK does not consider its self European, We are just an island of it's coast who like to drive on the other side of the road & try to keep the metric system at bay for as long as we can !. & therefore should not be a signatory & major contributor to this Euro failure....

    We had a vote in 1975 which was a con and a sham. The yes/no vote was to remain in a Common Market or not, that is to say, a trading agreement. The thing is, we already imported and exported to Europe and had done for centuries. A narrow yes vote was given to continue on a trading agreement. No-one voted for the European Union which has been foisted on us by stealth. As the Soviet Bloc empire has crumbled, so the European Empire has grown. Every lame duck now wants to join, including Turkey (big danger), but only for what they can get, not for what they have to offer. It cost the UK 50 million pounds ($75,000,000) PER DAY to be part of this monstrous organisation. While everyone has to scale back on most things, the fat cats of the EU get fatter. Their meddling interfering tentacles now creep far and wide and its interesting to note that the EU now has their own embassy staff in Manila.

    In my opinion it's all connected to the old "German Blue Bloods", bloodlines of the German Royals...
    In the early years of the migration to Northern America, there were a lot of Adventurers that got financed (probably former military) by wealthy businessmen that had strong connections to the Governments of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Holland and others. England had it's own interests and drove a hard and steady stream of immigrants to the West Indies and from there to America.
    Many of this first-comers did explore the sites that were chosen for settlements and reported back to the Home Office, on what kind of opportunities there were, this Scouts laid the roots for the network that was established and consequently extended up to this day.
    All the Big trading companies of that time were a spying network that was later developed to get first hand information on the happenings far out in the country, this information enabled them to make decisions ahead of time, it's still the same today only much more sophisticated.
    The Governments of this World that have a Federal Reserve System have since about 1980 worked together to create a one World Organization, it's obvious that since then everything the Governments have done is to put more pressure onto the Citizens, they have now created a situation were the people are unhappy with almost every aspect of live and with a little more pressure, they will finally welcome a new order that will make all the problems being taken care of and all the conflicts will be resolved...
    The only price to pay, will be, our individual freedom that we will have to give up...

    Now we have a problem, because my sources are mostly not the Internet, but real Books, were you actually have to turn pages instate of just scrolling or watching a movie...
    You can find this stuff also on the Internet but actually you only have to think of the way the World was organized about 400 years ago and who was in power and what happened to the powerful Families of that time, the Banking and Trading Houses, you can dig around in Family-trees and look up all the connections yourself, it was and is always about LENDING and one can track back who has lend to whom and for what reasons, but not much on the Internet...
    A good starting point is the great fire of the City of London in 1666 and the founding of the "Independent City of London" the now Financial Center of the World...

    I believe Simple Mind has a point. People doing business do gather intelligence, at least I hope they are smart enough to do so.

    I can believe that someone outside the RP used the if you were not here there would not have been an accident excuse, because it belongs to a mindset and not a particular people.

    Yeah, but the gloom and doom crap has been used since.....well, when people disagreed with a different political stances. It's old, not going to happen, and complete crap. The world will carry on. Republicans do it to Obama, Democrats did it to Bush, Republicans again to Clinton.......surprisingly enough the world kept turning for during said presidents term, and will continue during the next. Stop with the political crap, because it is just that.....crap.
