    Google "Ella Joy Pique".

2.5 years ago a 6 YO girl was abducted in Minglanilla, killed, and dumped over a cliff In Badian, near Moalboal.

Descriptions floated of the girl being abducted from school by a Filipina and a Foreigner in a black Pajero. NORWEGIAN computer engineer Sven Erik Berger and fiancée Karen Esdrelon were arrested days later on Feb 14th at the airport on their way out of the country for Valentines day. They claimed they were at Waterfront Hotel at the time of the abduction. Police and NBI verified the story, but Berger and Eseldron remained in police custody for weeks thereafter while the police and prosecutors tried to find enough evidence to prosecute them anyway. Were it not for Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, who wanted more info from the NBI, they may never have been released. Turns out there they were on video in the LOBBY of the Waterfront hotel at the time of the abduction. The employees on duty testified they were there at that time, and could not possibly have been in Minglanilla. In late afternoon, Waterfront is an hour away from the crime scene. The police had verified this within hours, and said nothing to anybody about it.

Yet they remained in jail for weeks afterward. As quoted by the prosecutor, in the Philippines, testimony of an eye witness takes precedence over a rock solid alibi. Eventually they were released without so much as a "sorry". International lawsuits (huge) are pending.

Now the authorities had "lost face", and they had to come up with someone quick, anyone! They next went after British National Ian Charles Griffiths and his GF Bella Ruby Santos. Suddenly they were looking for a BLUE Pajero (not black) and had a license plate number! Griffith and Santos owned a blue Pajero, but the license plate number was close not right.

Hey, no problem, the police just altered the license plate to match the one that they were looking for! Problem came in when it was discovered that they had only altered the FRONT license plate, they forgot to alter the rear one!

This is just the beginning, this story is so incredible it reads like a fiction novel. Surely this cannot be true!

    Other evidence;

Testimony from one Filipino and his GF who were allegedly riding past on a motorcycle a blue Pajero and saw Ian Griffiths throw a body off the cliff. He sites he saw this as he was passing by at 40 KM per hour in the night, and saw Ian plainly in the moonlight (he stated it was full moon) and by the streetlights.

There was no moon that night, and there are no street lights there.

Other testimony is that of 1 or sometimes 2 school children, who have positively identified Bella and Ian as the two who kidnapped Ella Joy. The same children who had positively identified Berger and Eseldron. Remember Berger and Eseldron? The two couples do not physically resemble each other.

    Other evidence?

    NONE! As in NIL, NOTHING!

Yet Bella is still battling this. She spent 18 months in jail, and was recently released on bail because the judge ruled there was little supporting evidence.

Griffiths was smart enough to get out of the country, and although the prosecutor to this day claims he is an international fugitive, Scotland Yard ruled there was no evidence against him, and he is living in his old house in UK free as a bird.

It is of note that there is a VERY LARGE reward for anyone who can provide the proof to get a conviction...eyewitnesses, etc...

Those who like to read, this case will rival any Ann Rule true crime book or John Grisham novel. Google any of the names above, you can spend days reading the articles. It really is an incredible story.

Now, compare it to this case from 8 years ago, also in Minglanilla, where a child was abducted, raped, and murdered, and now they admit 8 years later they had the WRONG man in jail all this time. He was released a week ago.

Rape suspect Placido Taña cleared, freed after 8 yrs. | Sun.Star

Could two or more of these cases be related by more than circumstance? Could this case be related?

Need I go on? I can..., but I do have other things to do.

In this country if they set their sites on you, you are guilty until proven innocent, and then you are still guilty. Remember, the eyewitness testimony of a 6 year old child is better than witnesses and a video of a major hotel lobby putting you somewhere else.

And the sad thing is the true killer will never be caught in this case. Expect more rapes and murders of small children because the police need to save face when the locals form a mob outside the police station.

you just don't blame it alone to the police though. I think they will be more than happy to do the arrest if they have gathered enough evidences but due to limited resources that the government is giving to them ( forensics for example, theres no such thing as blood spatter specialist in Philippines) and I don't think they have enough equipments in their crime labs to be even close to catching the real culprits. gathering evidences is the most crucial part. :-(. finding a culprit there is like an experiment in science class. a trial and error thing. shame. @shadow- ive read some of it but I must admit I wasn't able to follow that case. but yes I agree, it is very wrong to execute innocent people just so they can prove that they are doing theyre job.

Which they don't do....at least very well. Most investigations in small town USA do not involve the crap you see on CSI. They were able to solve murders prior to these tools.

like what tools? drawing up using a chalk board at the crime scene? interviewing witnesses and make judgements based from their own personal conclusions? let me give you abit of insight of whats its like to be a murder victim's family. if you go to the cops station and you would like to follow up on your case, they will tell you that theyre working on it and looking for a lead to speed up the process especially if you see some of them just sitting in their asses not doing anything youll consider bribing them to get the justice you believe your family deserve. then you come back again a week after then you do this every week but still the same answer. the more you push them more than likely they'll end up being desperate of just putting anyone they can find in the street as the culprit.if you inspect police stations there, they don't really have the proper crime labs, some are even still using typewriters!

Crimes were also solved when the most advanced piece of equipment was a typewriter. You hit the nail on the head though, the police, specifically the investigators, need to get off their a$$e$ and ask questions.

Have you hired private investigators for your families case? If so what were the results?

Heres what really happened. When i asked for a dna test ( the gunman left his hat at the crime scene) but because we had 500 workers working for my parents that time, it could just be anyone but the way they sounded to us is were geing ridiculous for asking for dna. The system in philippines is not that advanced. We've even paid cops just to get off their asses to search for a lead. They found the gunman but no one would want to witness though one witness identified tht it was really him but she didnt want to go to court. We even promised to look after her and the family (50k a month support just for her to testify) but she refused. Too scared. When i confronted the police i got this advice instead, that since theres not much evidence but the suspect is positive that its really him we can activate the commando ( kill him) so my family can get justice and be able to sleep at night and i told him af his face " please tell me your kidding me, do i f*cking look like a mafia or a murderer to you? Im asking for the justice of my father yet your asking me to commit a crime?get nicked!" I was that furious of the answer that he gave me but he explained that without a witness, murder case will never be solved. Or i can sabotage and pay someone to stand as a witness but i am not the sort of person that is capable of doing these things. I wanna die with my conscience still clear. So yes, we ended up pissing money against the wall and we still are. We only want to know one thing, amongst 100million people in the philippines why it has to be my dad. Gunman was found dead a couple months after the murder of my dad it was believe that whoever paud him to do the job must have paid someone to get him killed too because we were that close of getting him to confess. Sucks

What a bout a simple thing as a Magnifier....do they have that? I remember that Sherlock Holmes solved many crimes using his brains and a magnifier.
I watch crime cases at night from USA. A this moment I am watching the BIG trial of Mr. Zimmerman in Florida court room. He killed a black young boy, 17 years of age, and it is very interesting to see how the facts and the lawyers are breaking the prosecution. Only 6 jurors in this case. If interested go to WildaboutTrial and click on Zimmerman. Interesting to listening to all the expertise that US have to offer and how fast they work to try to solve a crime. In this case there was no eye witnesses...but it is amazing how much evidence they have gathered from the crime scene and people in the neighborhood. Interesting case.
