Hi there everyone! I would like to know if there are any members here "single" or "married" that have stayed in the Philippines "long term" meaning 5,10 years or longer on a simple TOURIST VISA, leaving the country ocassionally and starting the same procedure on arrival? Your replies will be much appreciated! Nico
Would you like to provide an introduction of yourself? Asking that type of question can probably get a better response if we know who you are. Filipino, foreigner? Are you planning on attempting that long-term stay strategy?
HI Spiritualbeing, I have been here 8 years on a tourist visa. I leave the Philippines every 18 months ( it only has to be for 24 hours) if you are married and have your wife with you when you come in you can get a balikbayan that is good for one year and no charge. I am not real sure but i think a tourist visa with an I card would cost you about 20th a year cheers
Hi PatO! Point taken, I'm a 58 year young British male. Married to a filipina since 2007 (married in Thailand) just in case I needed to get out without going through the hassle of trying to get an annulment etc here (it was the right decision). I'm a 3rd degree blackbelt in karate, I love reading anything that will help me become a "better person" (always room for improvement).
Thank you for the intro Spiritualbeing and welcome to our forum. I think you will find it friendly and informative, and it sounds like your experience and background will have a lot to offer us. Personally, I have a permanent visa so cannot help you with your initial question, but I'm sure others will weigh in on this always interesting topic. Cheers
I had a 13A, permanent resident. Never had to leave the country. Staying here all the time without a reason to take a road trip d*mn near drove me crazy. Become one with your tourist status spiritualbeing, cherish it. Not worth the time, trouble and money to get the permanent residency unless one is old, infirm and unable to travel. In which case it might be a good idea to head on back home.
New Extension Greed takes over in the extension dept. ! Philippines extends tourist visa to six-month time limit - The cost is 13,100p !
hemmm yea I think it costs me for the first six months in the phils p10,200 so yea they are ripping us, less work = more money
New Extension My understanding is that now a U.S. tourist is allowed a 30 day stay without Visa , being increased from 21 days. Also , note that if you come from Brazil or Israel , you are allowed 90 days . Perhaps this is just a way of showing gratitude to Brazil and Israel for all their military support during the war
