I spent Christmas with a Danish family outside of Copenhagen in 1961. Among them was a US expat. I asked him why he had left the US. “I left the US because of hypocrisy in three areas: religion, sex and politics.” That answer has stuck with me over the decades. I’ve found a certain amount of relevance in all three.
